I snuck out of my hospital room after the Dragon Representative, who's name I learned was Kilon, left. I was literally on a witch hunt for Selene. I had so many questions I wanted, no, needed to ask her. Of course, like everything else in my life, finding her wasn't easy. I had to sneak past the guards and everyone else on the pack grounds while still in bandages, so I decided to jump from my window and go through the trees, like a ninja from Naruto.
Finally I found her sitting on the bench in our packs garden, just gazing at nature. I waited until she was the only one left to climb down from the tree and approach her. My heart was beating so fast and my hands were getting clammy.
"I suppose you're here because Kilon already told you that I was once a Pure as well correct?", she spoke to me without turning to face me. I sat down next to her, nodding.
"Well I suppose I can tell you my story, only if you're interested of course?", I nodded once again, curious as to why she was alive if I was as well.
"I was born over 1,000 years ago to a poor farmer and his wife. As you may already know, with every life a Pure gains more power. When I was 5 years old I was already able to use magic. But you see, my parents were common and poor folk, so they feared that if the village found out about me, they'd have me killed for witchcraft.", she said all of this while still facing the other direction.
"We kept moving for a few years and eventually we made a home in the middle of a forest. They always told me to never use my powers so I'd be able to blend in more. I didn't like to do it but I listen to them anyway. Then one day we were out in the village and an accident happened right in front of us. Many people were hurt, so against everything my parents had told me, I used my powers to heal them. I thought I was doing the right thing by helping, that they'd accept me once I showed them that I wasn't dangerous. But I was wrong, the villagers came after a us, and we were forced to flee once again. Only this time, the news spread and every supernatural creature was after us, after me.", her eyes began to tear up a bit and I could already anticipate that something bad happened.
"One night we made a camp to rest and out of nowhere vampires attacked us. My parents tried to hold them off and let me escape but they were killed instantly in front of me. Before I could do anything, one of the vampires knocked me out. They took me back to their leader, who then told me what I was and the things I was capable of.", she stayed quiet for a moment and so did I.
"Before I go on I want to explain something to you. A Pure only has one mate throughout his or her life. But, that mate isn't always the one destiny chose for them, it's the first person the kiss or get kissed by. The mate is the only other person that can control your power to its fullest. That's why Kilon had to stop you before you reached your mate.", I was filled with understanding once she said this.
"So continuing with my story, I think you can guess what happened next. The vampire leader not only kissed me, but forcefully mated with me. After that I couldn't leave him, no matter how hard I tried. He made me do so many horrible things to so many people for many years. But I guess you can say I snapped when I met my real mate."
"He was a human, the son of a blacksmith. I met him by chance when I snuck out for a walk. And although I was mated to the vampire leader, who's name was Fran, a part of me yearned for my real mate, Gwaine.
I met him in secret for a few months and I fell even more in love with him than I thought was possible. He didn't reject me when I told him what I was and what I had done. We planned to run away from Fran, even though I knew that we'd still be connected. Sadly, he already knew of our plans.", she took a deep breath and continued. "He and the rest of the clan beat me to the point where I nearly died, and then they bound me to chains. Th-they brought Gwaine and positioned him in front of me. And they forced me to watch as they tore him apart, piece by piece and fed on him. I screamed and begged and thrashed but I couldn't help him, I couldn't help my mate. And what hurts me till this day is that not once did he cry out. He held it all in, for my sake, and his last words were 'I still love you.' He died smiling, and a part of me died as well. That's when I broke, I yelled loudly, forcing all my power and emotions outward. That caused all the vampires in the cave to explode, their bodies could not take the concentration of power I was releasing at once. I save Fran for last, and boy did I take my time with him.", she laughed a little.
"I died that day, I was weak from the beating and I had used up all my life force killing the vampire clan. But as you can see I didn't stay dead, the high priestess of that time and her clan found me and using dark magic, brought me back to life. They took me under their wing and taught me how to use my powers, but this time I could only use magic, I lost my other powers as I had died as been brought back. For the rest of my life I worked hard to try and make it to my future reincarnations but to no avail. They were either killed, experimented on, or many would commit suicide. After a few centuries I gave up hope, because no matter how hard I tried, I never made it in time to save you. That's why I was surprised and relieved that you were alive. I swear to you that I will protect you. Especially from Vladimir."
"Wait why from Count Vladimir specifically?", she finally turned to look at me,"Because he has a score he's wanted to settle with me for centuries. And using you would be the perfect way to do it."
"What score are you taking about? Why me?", I was confused as to what I had to do with that. "Sadly I didn't killed every member of Fran's clan that day. His only son survived because he was off on a hunt.", her eyes hardened and her next words made me shell shocked.
"Count Vladimir is a child born of Fran and myself. He was adopted by the royal family after our death and wants to have you mated to the Crowned Vampire Prince to get back at me for killing his father and clan."
