Peeta's POV-
"Katniss, it's time to wake up." I smiled at her, nudging her slightly as I placed her breakfast beside her on the bed.
I still had the nightmares, and there were times when I still believed that Katniss was trying to kill me; but we managed to get through them.
Two years after the rebellion, and we're still going.
Even stronger than we were before.
I loved Katniss more than anything, but there was another girl who was just important in my life.
My little girl.
Destiny.
My beautiful daughter who, in the time that Katniss and I have been together, is the best thing to happen to the both of us.
In fact, Destiny is the one that helps keep my anger under control because, when she is around, I'd never want to hurt her or anyone else; she means too much to me for me to ever hurt her or her mother.
She gave me the chance at a new life.
A better life where I can make sure Destiny has everything I never did as a child, and I can protect her better than my own father protected me from my mother- not that she needs to be protected from Katniss, but I'm going to make sure nothing ever happens to Destiny.
"Is Destiny awake yet?" Katniss mumbled from the pillow, refusing to open her eyes and accept that the day had begun.
"No. I thought I'd let her sleep a while longer so that we can spend some time together." I grinned as I placed a kiss on her cheek.
"Hm. I love you Peeta." she smiled back at me as she slowly opened her eyes, sitting up at her own pace so that she could eat the breakfast which I had made for her.
"I love you too Katniss." I smiled back at her.
"So, what is the plan for today?"
"I thought we would just spend some time together as a family. I've got your mother, Haymitch and Effie coming over in a while, and then I've also invited Annie, Johanna, Gale and Beete as well." I replied, stealing a slice of toast of her plate and shoving it into my mouth.
Turns out that, when Gale "vanished" after the rebellion, he went to District Two; only deciding that he was going to turn up again when he heard that Katniss and I were marrying each other, also discovering that she was pregnant with Destiny at the same time.
To say he was annoyed would be an under-statement.
He was ready to kill me for taking his girl away from him, but he should have been quicker and then Katniss would have been his, rather than mine.
"I suppose it'll be nice to see everyone again. I wonder how Annie has managed to cope for the past two years, raising her son without the help of Finnick." Katniss sighed, her head falling onto my shoulder as she continued to eat her food.
Katniss' POV-
"I suppose it'll be nice to see everyone again. I wonder how Annie has managed to cope for the past two years, raising her son without the help of Finnick." I sighed, allowing my head to fall onto Peeta's shoulder so that he couldn't see the stray tears which were making their way down my cheeks.
See, the thing is, I knew exactly how Annie must have felt when she told her son that he was never going to get to meet his father because he died saving everyone in the Districts.
I know how hard it's been for her to bring up her child without its father around to support her, or to help her out when she needed it the most.
I can even count the amount of tears she shed in the privacy of her own home, when everyone else was asleep and all she could do was remember Finnick- the times they spent together in District Four, their wedding, the day she told him that she was pregnant and the last time that she spoke to her husband before he went off to The Capitol.
The reason I understand everything she feels...
...Our children have the same father.
Finnick Odair.
I've spent the last two years making sure no one finds out the truth, and I'll spend the next hudred doing the same.
