Happy Birthday-

Peeta's POV-

"Morning sweetheart." I said with a smile as I walked into my daughter's bedroom.

Today was the day of her second birthday and, we weren't going to do much, but it was still nice to have all the family together again.

Katniss' mother and Effie and Haymitch - who ended up married to each other, despite the fact they always seemed to hate each other during and after The Hunger Games - were all coming over first to spend some time with Destiny before all the others turned up.

Effie and Haymitch were Destiny's Godparents.

Katniss and myself were so happy when they both accepted the role because it was going to be nice for her to have those two in her life.

Sure, Haymitch was still a drunk and Effie was still totally crazy, but they both loved Destiny and enjoyed spending time with her so Katniss and I could spend more time with each other.

We have spent many nights together thanks to Effie and Haymitch agreeing to look after Destiny as often as they did.

"Daddy." she spoke with a grin on her face, sitting up and giving me a massive hug at the same time.

"Happy Birthday darling." I smiled at her.

"Love you daddy." Destiny replied as I placed a kiss on the top of her head.

"Mummy has picked your dress out for today. Do you want help getting ready?" I asked her, standing up and walking over to where Katniss had placed the dress she wanted our daughter to wear for her special day; we had made sure everything was perfect.

Destiny simply nodded her head at me enthuastically.

"Right, I'll be back in a minute. I'll get mummy to help you in the bath. OK?" I smiled at her.

"Yeah. OK." she replied and I smiled at her one last time before I walked out of the room, heading downstairs to where Katniss was sitting.

She was sitting on the sofa with her head in her hands and I could hear that she was crying to herself, but I was puzzled over the reason why she was crying because today was supposed to be a happy day - there wasn't anything for her to be sad of.

"What's the matter babe?" I asked her with a hint of sadness, taking a seat next to her and holding her close to me and never wanting to let her go again.

"Oh. It's nothing. Don't worry about it." she replied with a smile as she wiped the tears from my eye. "What did you want?"

"Destiny wants you to bathe her today. Do you want to do it or do you want me to?" I asked her, still not believing that there was nothing wrong with her.

People don't just cry for nothing, especially not on their child's birthday.

"It's fine. I'll do it." Katniss replied and then vanished from the room with nothing more than a light sniff being heard as she made her way upstairs to where Destiny was waiting for her.

Just as I was about I follow up the stairs, there was a knock on the door. I opened it to see Katniss' mother stood there with a smile on her face and a present in her hand.

"You're early." I said sounding a little colder than was intended.

"I didn't realise I wasn't allowed to turn up early so I could spend more time with my granddaughter on her birthday." she snapped at me, as I moved to the side and she walked past me into the living room, placing her present on the table with the rest of the presents which Katniss and myself had bought for her. "What is this doing here?"

"What is it?" I asked her.

She didn't reply, she simply handed me a piece of paper which I opened, and it was a picture of Finnick that looked like it had been screwed up and unscrewed more than once; the corners of the pictures were slightly worn and it appeared as though someone had been looking at the picture while they were crying.

"So, where is she then?" Clara asked me with an impatient grin on her face.

"Katniss is just giving her a bath. They'll be ready soon." I replied, my eyes still on the image of Finnick and all thoughts directed to the reason it would be in this home.

I mean, I know we were friends with Finnick, but I was almost certain that we never had any pictures of here around the place; unless Katniss had one that she never told me about.

But she would never lie to me.

In our wedding vows we promised that we would never lie to each other, and we would always be there if we needed someone to talk to, and we promised that we would love each other with everything that we had.

There's no way she would ever lie to me about anything.

"Are you OK Peeta?" Clara interrupted my thoughts.

"Yeah. I'm fine. I'll just go and see where the girls are." I smiled at her, shoving the picture into my pocket and disappeatring up the stairs. "Katniss?"

"I'm in Destiny's room. I was just about to get you, she didn't want me to get her dressed. Complete daddy's girl." Katniss laughed seeming to have cheered up a lot from earlier on when she came up here to see Destiny.

"Grandma is downstairs, so we better hurry up." I laughed as Katniss continued to dry our daughter off.

"Yay. Grandma." Destiny replied excitedly and, just by hearing her laughter, it was like all the anger I had inside me simply disappeared and I didn't want to demand the truth from Katniss anymore; I just wanted to see my daughter happy.

"I'm going to speak to my mother." Katniss stated and then left the room.

I could tell that something wasn't right.

I would find out what it was.

Just not today.

Second update of this story in a day. What a lucky bunch of people you are.

I hope you like this story so far and are excited to see where it goes since I'm excited to write it for you all.

To the side I randomly posted a picture of Hayffie. I don't know why, I just liked the picture. I also posted "We Remain" because I feel like it fits all the whole vibe of this chapter; especially with the tension which Peeta feels has been created.
