"Sam! Were are you?"
My father is screaming at me as I hide in my closet, my body pressed up against the clothes. I scoot farther back into the closet, his footsteps growing louder and louder by the second. The floorboards creek as he yells out again.
"Get out here now!"
I feel the tears running down my face and I hide a sob. The closet door swings open and he gains down at me.
"You thought you could hide."
He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. I screamed and flailed all around, but it was no use. He had found me again, my worst nightmare was back. I elbowed him and scratched at his skin, but to no avail. He opened the door and walked outside, tightening his grip. I gave up and went limp, my body dangling from him. He slowly stopped and I heard his breathing speed up and he lowered me onto the ground.
"No...."
I stayed limp and heard him scream into the nothing that surrounded us.
"No! S-Sam!"
The echo of a collision caused me to jump and look around. He had punched a tree in anger and didn't notice my jump. As quietly as I could possibly move, I got up and began to back away from him. When he glanced over his shoulder I froze. He spun around and balled his hands into fists. The next second my feet were pounding along the forest floor.
I shot up in bed and looked around. I was in my room, the sunlight was streaming through my peach curtains and the room smelled faintly of lilac. I got up and slipped on a loose fitting shirt that I paired with jeans shorts. I pulled my midnight black hair into a ponytail and looked into the mirror. People were always telling me that I looked perfect and that they didn't understand why I bought make-up. I had dark eyelashes and pinky cheeks. My lips weren't plump, but they were not nonexistent either. I had a gentle jaw line and my eyes were a misty blue. I decided to skip make-up today and brushed my teeth before I made my way downstairs. I slowly realized that it wasn't just my bedroom that smelled of lilac, the entire house smelled faintly of lilac and citrus. I walked into see Neal at the stove. I hugged him from behind and he chuckled.
"Good morning Moon."
"Good morning Nee Nee."
"How did you sleep? There are eggs ready of you want any."
"I slept well..."
He looked at me and raised his eyebrows.
"But?....."
"You weren't there when I woke up..."
I smiled at him and he laughed.
"Sorry Moon, I woke up early to make breakfast."
"When do you go in for work?"
He glanced up at the clock.
"About an hour."
I nodded.
"I'm gonna head to the shower."
He stood up and went upstairs and I went upstairs to pack
