FYI: I'm not saying which couple will be the focus of this book. Looks like you're gonna have to read it and find out! 😉
It was Tuesday, and Mac's day to meet with Walter and eavesdrop on Rick and Whorie's conversation. His meeting with Walter was at one, and so was Rick's. He has even consulted a few other Heathens to have meetings for that time too, just in case things got ugly.
Mac was preparing for his meeting with Walter, though he would barely pay attention to Walter and mostly focus on Rick and Lori. As the newbie guard, Benjamin, patted him down, Mac also had his mind on a certain kiss. Or, almost kiss. He couldn't stop wondering what would've happened if Rick and T-Dog hadn't come in when they did. Would he have let Jesus kiss him? What would've happened if Jesus had kissed him?
"Ok, looks like you're clean." Ben said, stepping back. "You're free to visit now."
He opened the door and let Mac pass and stepped back. Mac took a deep breath of the clean, non-prison smelling air. This was about as free as it got. Other inmates were socializing with their families, bouncing children on their laps while talking to their wives or parents. In the middle of the room was Walter, who looked tired and old as always. The table next to him was a black haired woman sitting next to a man with a shaved head. He had his arm around her shoulders, looking uneasy and defensive. In front of them was a Manila envelope full of documents and a pen. Mac glared at Lori and Shane before taking a seat in front of Walter.
"Sup?" He asked, keeping an eye on the whore beside them.
"What's the real reason you want to see me?" Walter asked, sighing slightly.
"To talk to ya, of course." Mac stated, smiling at his father.
He sighed and leaned back. "Well, I've been good. You?"
"Alright, I guess." Mac mumbled, just as the door opened again. Mac glanced over his shoulder at Rick, who looked like he had just found out he was going to get a death sentence. He walked over to Lori and Shane, taking an uneasy seat in front of them with his fingers twined and resting on the table.
"Rick." Lori greeted with a cold, expressionless face.
"Lori. Shane." Rick said, and Mac kept one eye on them while still facing Walter. Walter nodded, now understanding why Mac wanted to meet with him.
"I've got the papers right here. I'll take them to court on Thursday to get them signed, and we'll no longer be married." Lori explained.
Rick nodded, looking torn and heartbroken. Mac bit his lip softly, feeling pity towards his friend. "What about Carl and Judith?" Rick asked.
"I will have full custody of them." Lori said.
Rick's head shot up, and Mac saw his eyes watering. "No, please, let me have some custody over them." He begged.
"You're in prison, Rick." Lori pointed out, her voice strained. "You can't watch out for them in here."
"Don't take my kids, Lori. Please don't take my kids." Rick pleaded, his voice cracking.
"Judith isn't yours." Shane cut in. "We had a DNA test done. She's mine."
Rick looked broken. "Please let me see them. Please."
"Rick I've already signed the paperwork. All you have to do is sign your part." Lori said.
"Will I still be able to see them?" Rick asked, a tear falling from his eye.
Lori sighed. "Rick, after this visit, I'm not coming back." She said softly.
Rick sniffed, looking down into his lap. Mac noticed a couple tears drop out of his eyes, and he had had enough.
"Wow, what the hell do ya mean he can't see his kids?" Mac demanded, glaring at Lori and Shane.
"This is none of your business." Shane stated.
"So what if it ain't? Yer takin' his kids away from him!" He snapped.
"It's for the best. For them." Lori said.
"Is it the best for him?" Mac demanded.
"Rodriguez! Keep to yourself!" Holden snapped.
"But she's keepin' his kids away from him! That's just fuckin' cruel." Mac stated, glaring at Lori.
"Judith is mine! And besides, Carl never talks or asks about you anymore." Shane said, glaring hard at Rick.
That was the final nail in the coffin. Rick's head shot up, and Mac noticed his lip quivering. Mac was pissed. "Fuck off. And you, bitch, are a fuckin' cheater. Rick is too good for a whore like you."
"Mac, stop," Rick mumbled.
"No, Rick this whore don't deserve to have kids." He snapped. Lori looked taken aback by Mac's words. Shane looked plain pissed.
"You shouldn't talk to us like that. I'm a cop." Shane stated.
Mac laughed heartily. "Bitch do you know where I am?" He asked, gesturing to himself and the visiting center. "I'm in here for life, bitch!"
"Mac that's enough!" Rick snapped, looking furious and heartbroken.
"Rick, she's keepin' your kids from ya! Ya gotta fight!" Mac stated.
"Why would you keep his kids away from him?" T-Dog called from across the room, his visitor looking surprised.
"Yeah? What kind of heartless bitch are you?" Spencer demanded from Mac's other side.
Other Heathens, and to Mac's surprise a few Saints, added their comments. Mac felt superior, and Lori and Shane looks scared and stressed. Mac stood up, and others did as well. They started yelling at Lori and Shane, siding with Rick and Mac. About a minute later, though, guards dressed in riot gear started clearing out the room. Mac was the first to go, yet he felt confident that Rick would remain with some custody over his kids.
As the guard escorted Mac back to his cell, Jesus was emerging from the library. He paused as he saw Mac being escorted by the guards, watching as they guided him. Mac had mixed feelings about Jesus being there. On one hand, he faked a look of anger and defense as he glared at his opponent, but on the other hand, he was... confused. How should he feel about Jesus? Did he hate Jesus? Not likely. Ergh! Fuck feelings! He thought. He and Jesus were enemies, and that was that! That was how it had always been, and that was how it was always going to be.
