"S-Shit...."
Oh god. Logan. I fell on Logan!
"O-Oh god I'm s-so sorry!" I say, trying to grasp the situation. It took me a moment to realize he had is arms wrapped around me. He caught me when I fell from my seat.
He didn't move, just looked at me.
That's when it kicked in. The pain. My ankle twisted with pain and my arm felt like a million needles were impaling it.
"Aghh...!!" I gasped, squeezing my eyes shut. Logan finally let me go, trying to sit up. I got a whiff of something that smelled like iron, then gas, then blood. This is horrifying. I've never been in a crash before... I didn't think I'd be this calm.
"Shit.. the bus fell on its side. I need to call an ambulance." He said, trying to grab his phone off the ground.
"Already on it!" Colby said, her fingers fumbling over her keypad.
"....911 what's your emergency?"
"H-Hi... I was j-just in an accident. I'm in a bus... it tipped. Some windows are broken... a f-few kids passed out. P-please come help.."
Bonnie was in the seat next to us. She must've fallen as well, but I didn't know how she was all okay. Maybe she landed on her feet.
I didn't listen to the rest as I sit up, trying to climb my way off of Logan. Then it hit me.
How did Logan survive, uninjured, even though he was on the side that tipped?
I looked at him more carefully now, my eyes narrowing.
"Logan..." I hesitated as he looked me in the eye, "Are you alright?" I felt my words tremble, as if they didn't want the truth.
Logan nodded, scowling at me.
"Now get the hell off me. You're killing my back." He scoffed as he pushed me upwards.
I fell back down, gravity pushing my dead weight onto him.
He let out a growl and tried shoving me again.
"H-Hey! Jeez calm down, I can't move very well. Gravity is literally being a bitch right now, chill." I say, pushing myself up.
I put my feet on the window that he was leaning on just a few moments again. Logan stands as well. Colby and a few other kids are standing in the seats, unsure of what to do. Some are calling parents, some are just crying. The kids who passed out are the ones who's windows broke. Hopefully none of them got hurt by the glass.
As Logan stands, the small area of the seat gets cramped. My body pressed against his, and I tried to back up. But the seat kept me from moving, so I just looked around a̶w̶k̶w̶a̶r̶d̶l̶y̶ worriedly.
"Did they say they were coming?" I asked Colby. She turned and nodded at me, her face full of intense fear.
"Hey, listen. Girl we're gonna be alright. The ambulance will come and get us out of here. Calm down... it's going to be alright okay?" I tried soothing her, putting my hand over the seat to stroke her hair. She nodded repeatedly at me, frowning. She didn't seem to have any injuries, just a little scratch on her elbow.
Logan put a hand around my waist, which startled me, and I whipped my head around to look at him. "Calm it, I'm just trying to move you over a seat so I'm not squashed in here with you. Plus, your hair keeps whacking me in the face," He scowled, moving me around to the other side of the seat.
My heart started racing. I̶ ̶d̶o̶n̶'t̶ ̶w̶a̶n̶t̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶o̶v̶e̶.
I opened my mouth to protest, but all that came out was, "O-Okay."
For the split moment that our bodies touched, I was in heaven. I felt my heart racing. His body was so warm, so welcoming. Yet he had a scowl on his face that said otherwise.
I knew I had to make use of this situation, but I didn't know what to do.
He picked me up and I slid over his seat into the new one. It was empty, but the window was broken. I tripped on my way down, injuring my ankle even more. I groaned in pain, and found Logan looking down at me. He looked at me like I was a lost puppy. Like he didn't even care. Like he would leave me to starve to death.
My veins ran cold with his gaze and I looked down, feeling disbelief.
I heard the sirens and I immediately felt my stomach turn. I tried to see as the ambulance came to a stop near us, but I couldn't see a thing. Only the cloudy blue sky. Voices and footsteps came close. Thank god we're all right. As I opened the door to my home, my mom came rushing over to me. "Alice! Why are you so late? Did something happen?" She looked from me to Colby, then saw the police car out in our driveway.
"The bus crashed. We are okay, but they had to drive us home." I say, gesturing to the car outside.
She immediately headed outside, talking with the man in the car. Probably trying to get information.
I looked at Colby and checked her for injuries. Nothing but that minor scratch on her elbow that they'd bandaged up. She smiled at me gratefully as we put our bags down and headed upstairs.
4:16 My clock read. We were in the bus for more than two hours. I grabbed my phone off my night stand, turning it on to see 19 missed calls from my mom. Along with text messages of course. Colby put her stuff in my room, pulling out the trundle in my bed.
"Hey- wait. Do you want to sleep downstairs tonight by the furnace?" I ask, giving her a glance. She hesitated then put the trundle back into place, "Sure, why not,"
Colby hopped up onto my bed with me, and pulled up her phone. "I was texting my parents when the ambulance came. They said it's still alright for me to stay over, I just have to let them know if I'm not feeling great or something. My mom was worried sick." She shook her head, sighing a breath of exhaustion. "Okay. Well good thing you let them know. It was really terrifying but I wasn't really... that scared. I didn't get injured except for my ankle and my arm. I was calm and I don't know why." I put down my phone and looked at her in the eye.
"I know, I saw that. I was scared half to death, so was everyone else. Those unconscious kids had to go to the hospital. Hopefully they will be alright." She brushed a hand through her hair.
My mom's footsteps came pounding up the stairs. She opened my door and walked over to us. "Girls... you're alright? I heard that they checked you and there was nothing to be concerned about- but getting into a crash is violent. Colby, did you call your parents?"
"Yes, I did. They say it's okay for me to stay. I already called and they know what happened."
"Ok, thank the lord. I was horrified. It took me an hour to realize that Aggie's phone was in her room." My mom shook her head, clearly upset.
"Well, I did hurt my ankle. Pretty sure I twisted it when I fell. And my arm whacked a seat. It didn't hurt that much..." I stopped before I said anything else, not wanting to mention Logan.
Colby nodded, looking from me to my mom. "Yeah and my elbow had just hit some glass. I'm alright though."
My mom nodded repeatedly, putting her hands on her hips. "Okay, okay." She exhaled lightly before leaving my room, closing the door behind her.
Colby turned her body and looked at me, smirking.
"What..." I looked up from my phone as I spoke.
"Logan so saved you!" She giggled, smiling mischievously now.
"How did you know!" I giggled too, flipping my messy braid over my shoulder. Colby shrugged, "I saw you... all up in his arms. You were smiling you know."
I felt my cheeks flood with pink as I looked down at my phone. "Yeah well I didn't expect him to catch me."
"Do you like him?"
"Maybe."
"That's kinda funny because Scar likes him too."
I stopped for a moment, then scoffed, "You're joking,"
"No, I'm not." Colby was still smiling as I looked up. "Well shit, guess I'll lay off then." I say, feeling a million things at once.
Scarlet? Liking Logan? You've got to be kidding. Colby and her are fighting right now anyways... how would she know??Well I d̶i̶d̶ didn't like him anyways, so it's ok. My stomach turned and I felt sick. I opened up my Snapchat, going into quick add. I scrolled down, adding a few people. But my eyes landed on a certain name. It was Logan James.
"Oh god I just saw Logan on quick add. Should I add him?" I ask, suddenly doubting myself.
Colby snorted, texting someone on her phone. "Sure, why not."
I quickly hit the add button, then shut off my phone. I leaned back on my pillows, inhaling deeply. I went over everything in my head- everything that happened in the crash. I didn't really remember much, maybe because I was calm on the outside but completely freaked out on the inside. But Logan was there, he'd practically saved me from bad injuries. But what I was so worried about... was the fact that Logan wasn't injured at all.
