(New Version)Chapter One
Walking through the city at night is not the most comforting thing in the world. Especially if it's on the bad side on the city. There wasn't much light, just the occasional lit lamps on the street.
I was currently walking home from a job interview that didn't go so well. My usual snarky self surfaced during the interview and I quickly got kicked out from that place.
I was very disappointed in myself because this was the last place that accepted any college dropouts and I ruined it. I ruined everything. I barely had any money left, I could barely afford my small apartment, and food was scarce.
Before I let myself down any more, I rid my head of my thoughts and continued walking down the dark street. If I could of afforded a taxi, I would have taken one by now. But I couldn't, so I was forced to walk home.
It wasn't so bad, until I heard something behind me. I spun around and searched the area. I was greeted with darkness. Fear slowly grew inside of me. Not being able to see well didn't suit me. Knowing that anybody or anything could be in the shadows made my heart jump.
After looking for a little while more, I turned around and continued my way home. My nerves were on edge and my legs occasionally twitched as if they wanted to run. The cold didn't help either.
After a while of walking again, I heard a thud behind me. My breath hitched and I looked behind me again. Once more all I saw was nothing. I gulped slowly and continued walking again. The fear was eating me alive and all I wanted was to run. I felt as if I was being stalked. Sometimes I would feels a heated stare on my back, like somebody was watching me.
I sped up the pace and looked behind me every once in awhile.
Turning the corner, I sighed in relief once I saw my apartment. The old run down appearance didn't make a good first impression, but the rooms were actually decent. The price was fair, but I would soon have to move out because I could barely afford it. The last of my savings were almost gone and I had to keep them for food and water, even if it meant I had to live on the streets.
I sped up my pace once again to a fast walk. Almost there. I was still on edge and the fear still clung to my chest. I thought I could make it.
So it came to a complete surprise to me when a large hand grabbed my hair and yanked me to the ground.
I cried out when I hit the ground. The burning pain from my scalp being pulled paralyzed me for a second.
The moment I opened my eyes, I realized I had been shoved into a small dark alley. The man above me was large in size. Even in the dark, I could see the outline of his thick muscular body. His height was astounding, even more so when I was laying on the ground. He could break me with just a hit.
I scrambled to get up and backed away. The man chuckled darkly. He found my fear amusing.
“What do you want?” My voice shook.
“Why are you asking? I obviously grabbed you for a reason.” I couldn't see his face, but I knew he was smirking. There was only one reason why a man would grab you from an alleyway and it's wasn't good.
I stepped further away, but every time I would he would step closer. Tears ran down my face, I didn't want to be here. I was stuck with this man all alone where he could do anything to me.
“Please, just let me go,” I cried. The fear was overwhelming.
“Why would I do that? Why would I let a pretty girl like you go?” My back hit the brick wall, he walked closer until he was a foot away.
He was so tall, towering over my small 5’4 form. His hand reached up to touch my cheek, but I flinched away.
“Get on your knees.”
“Wh-What?” I stuttered.
“I said get on your knees or else I will beat your brains out.” His playful mood seemed to have left, replaced with a serious one.
I shook my head, I knew where this was going.
“I don't want to.” The moment I said that his fist flew down to my cheek. The sickening crunch and searing pain that followed had me screaming. My body hit the ground with a thud.
Warm, liquid seeped down my face, flowing into my mouth. It tasted metallic. This was blood my blood. Panic seized my body and I attempted to get up, but something heavy held me down.
Soft sobs left my mouth, saliva and blood mixed together. I spit what I could out and tried to sit up, but that heavy mass still held me down.
“You're going to regret saying no.”
An agonized kick was sent to my stomach. I cried out weakly and curled into myself. My vision was blurred and my mind was hazy. I didn't register what was going on, until I realized that the heavy mass was gone.
I heard thuds and grunts. Then sickening cracks and a scream. The sound of a body being dragged sent another wave of fear through me.
I wanted to run, to escape, but my body felt so heavy and in pain I couldn't move. I felt so tired and numb.
I couldn't remember much except for two warm hands and a voice. The most melodious voice I had ever heard.
“I got you. Go to sleep.” It was so warm and safe. I felt protected.
Right as the darkness enveloped me, I saw the most striking grey eyes.

AddHey everyone, to the one's who have already been here from the start. I have unpublished all the chapter and started fresh. This will be the new version of chapter one.
I just wasn't satisfied with the previous, it didn't have enough action and suspense like I wanted. So I changed it dramatically.
I will also change the other chapters as well and they won't be the same until I get the story going again. Thank you for those who read this authors note.
