13 - Taking Care Of The Children

Four years into our marriage, Scotty had to go on tour and so he told me one day, "Honey, I have to go on tour and you have to take care of the children while I'm gone." "Alright. That's sounds fine to me. How long will you be gone?" "Depends on how long this tour will be." "Do you know how long it is?" "No, I'm not sure." I looked at him with a frown and a sad look in my eyes. Then he kissed me on the forehead, grabbed his guitar case, flung his jacket over his shoulder and said, "Alright, I'm off. I love you so much, my love." So the kids and I followed him outside to his truck and then he put the guitar in the back of the truck and said to the kids, "Kids, behave for Mommy while I'm gone. I love you so much, my little ones." Kimberly looked at him and said, "Daddy, I love you." Then he gave all of us kisses and then took his son in his arms and held him close. He looked at his son and said, "Son, Daddy loves you SO MUCH! I pray that you will grow up to be a big boy someday. I love you, son. Daddy has to go now." Then he woke up and started to cry, so Scotty started to sing and he fell asleep again, then Scotty placed him back in my arms. Then we watched while he got in his truck, turned his head toward us, and blew all of us kisses. He turned on the radio and then backed out of the driveway and drove off.

After he left, I went back into the house and put our son to bed for a nap. While he was down for his nap, I went downstairs and did some ironing. I turned on the TV and there was an interview with my husband on it. Scotty walked in, looked at the TV and asked, "Am I doing an interview?" "Looks like it." So we sat down to watch it and after it was over, we went upstairs and I got dinner cooked. After dinner and baths, it was bedtime. So I put our little one's to bed and then Scotty and I walked in to our bedroom, got in bed and fell asleep.
