17 - Talking About Adoption

Five years into our marriage, Scotty and I sat down and talked about expanding our family. So one day while Scotty was at work I called him on the phone.

CONVERSATION BETWEEN SCOTTY AND I:

Me: Honey, how would you feel to adopt a child?

Scotty: I would love that. I would love to be a father again.

Me: Great!

So then after that we got off the phone, I went online to see if there were any young children up for adoption. Finally I found a picture of an infant from Guatamala. Scotty was on tour and so I decided to send him a picture of the infant that I wanted to adopt. Once Scotty got the picture, he called me.

PHONE CONVERSATION BETWEEN MY HUSBAND AND I:

Scotty: Hi honey, I just received the picture that you sent. Thank you.

Me: You're welcome. So what do you think of the picture?

Scotty: Beautiful.

Me: That's great!

So then I got off the phone and put our daughter to bed for a nap. While she was down for a nap, I went downstairs to the family room and ironed. While I ironed, Scotty came home from work and then he came up behind me and said, "Hi sweetheart, I'm home." Then I turned my head and saw him puckering up his lips for a kiss. I couldn't resist but to kiss him, he was my husband after all. He looked at me and asked, "Where's Kimberly?" "Down for her nap right now." "Oh, I thought she would be here to welcome me home?" "She'll be done her nap in about 5 minutes." "Oh alright." So then he gave me a kiss and sat down on the couch and turned on the T.V. While we were watching T.V., we both heard a cry, it was our daughter. Scotty ran up to see what was going on. He walked into her room and Kimberly looked at him and said, "Daddy, I hungry." "Alright. I'll take you out of there and feed you." They walked down the stairs and Scotty got her bottle and fed her while I finished up the ironing.
