Loki and Freya had been friends as far back as they both could remember.  If Loki wasn't with his big brother Thor, he could surely be found with his partner in mischief Freya.  They both excelled in magic as they were taught by their mothers.  Freya's mother Rika was quite skilled with magic just as Frigga.  Their children were both masters of the craft.  However, they were also both makers of mischief...

"Don't cause too much trouble today."Rika gave her daughter a knowing look.  Freya gave her tumbles of hair a toss turning them from raven black to siren red.  Loki's favorite.  Her eyes she never changed.  She kept them green.  She was tall and lean just like her mother.  She and Rika looked more like sisters than mother and daughter.  Freya fastened her cloak around her neck and covered every last hair on her head.

"We will behave."she assured her mother.

"That's what you said the time."Rika arched an eyebrow.

"That's not our fault."Freya defended.  "If Thor hadn't butted in the way he always does."

"Freya."Rika chided.

"Well he did cause some of the damage."Freya muttered.  Rika shook her head and chuckled at her daughter.

"Freya I know it is hard to understand Thor and Loki's love.  They are brothers, and princes.  You are an only child. Remember they have a great duty on their shoulders."

"I know."Freya admitted.  Though she did wish Thor would just butt out sometimes.  "Can I go now?"

"Off with you!"her mother grinned.  Freya kissed her mother's cheek before she dashed away.

Freya arrived to the clearing in the woods first.  She spied the best spot to hide.  Loki could always find her no matter how well she hid, but not today.  Freya learned from her own mother and from Loki how to make herself appear in more than one place.  It was one of Loki's favorite tricks to play on Thor.  For some reason Thor always fell for it.  Freya would have to be smart in order to decieve the likes of Loki.  She decided a silhouette would serve the best purpose.  Freya moved quickly to her chosen hiding place.  She was happy she had chosen her pants and boots over a dress much to her mother's shagrin.  Freya knew she would be in the woods and climbing on rocks anyway.  From her secure spot, in the hollow of a tree, she blended into her surroundings almost perfectly even without the aid of magic.  She saw Loki as he walked into the clearing.  Somehow he always managed to take her breath away.  He didn't walk, he sauntered.  He was truly beautiful in her eyes.

Loki stopped in the middle of the clearing and folded his arms across his chest.  He turned his head slowly as he surveyed the edge of the woods.  She was nearby, he knew that.  Something caught his attention and he turned, but just his head.  A glimpse of her silhouette disappearred behind a tree.  He chuckled to himself.  "You're getting very good at this game."he purred.  He didn't move an inch.  He stood perfectly still and waited.  The silhouette appeared again.  He grinned.  "You've hidden yourself well."he said with a playful smile.  He remained in his spot; motionless.  Motionless except for his eyes which darted back and forth.  Suddenly he spotted movement on earth beneath him.  It was the flowers.  They were moving.  There was no wind.  Clever girl, he thought with a smile.  The flowers continued to move, in fact they were shuddering until they finally lifted off from their stems and transformed into butterflies.  The butterflies flitted and swirled all around Loki in a beautiful circle of colors.  He was laughing now.  He watched as the butterflies flew up and around his head.  In an instant, he knew just how to draw Freya out from hiding.  He raised one hand up above his head and with a simple flick of his wrist the butterflies were altered once again; this time into snow.  Freya loved it when Loki made snow.  He wasn't sure how he was able to do it, he just knew that he could.  He heard her giggle and in an instant he knew exactly where she had cloaked herself.  Loki simply turned to face the direction where she had hid herself in the hollow of a tree.  He saw her.  For one small second their eyes met, then he looked up  to the sky and conjured even more snow.
