Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it.

I find myself sitting in the hotel’s lobby when I actually want to be roaming about our little town with Daph. Although I say little town, it is not so or else I think we would have been done with our roaming about now.
We will be actually doing the roaming now if Daph had not begged me to let her change into something that is not a gown and heels. She kept on whining about how her feet wanted to commit suicide.
I stare at the white paper bag beside me and can’t help but smile... I think Daphne will like what I got her. Daphne... that sounds funny and weird. Even though it’s her name I actually can’t recall when I’ve called her that to her face.
This homecoming dance... I don’t know but I’m happy, for once in quite sometime... I am happy. I feel like this week has been a blessing.
Even though I’ve not heard from Shannon, since her letter, I do hope she is okay. It sure does hurt, the way she treats me, like I’m some stranger. I don’t know how anyone else will feel about this but imagine you hearing that your wife or even husband had an accident and after being in a coma for 3 weeks he/she wakes up looking for his/her ex. For me it was heart wrenching. For those weeks I literally lived in the hospital. It just hurt so bad, even weeks after we came home and she was getting better physically, it seemed like she was losing it emotionally and menta...
“Why are you sitting there staring at nothing? I actually thought you were looking at something interesting from afar.” Daph says after snapping her fingers at me.
“Sorry, I was thinking about how amazing I am and got lost in it. Wow... it felt like I was going through centuries and centuries of what makes me awesome. You, my dear Daphne should count yourself as very lucky.” I say with a sly grin.
“Why should I count myself as lucky? Is it because I have a best friend whose ego sometimes swells up to the size of Jupiter?” She replies teasingly.
“No, it’s because I’m awesome. Who else will re-enact our senior prom for you?” I question.
“Point of correction, you re-enacted just the dancing part not the whole senior prom!” She half yells.
“Okay, you win this time. But I’m going to make you regret saying that I have an ego the size of Jupiter.” I say with a mock serious face.
“Go on... I’ll have a good laugh seeing you doing that. And what have you got over there?” She says motioning towards the white paper bag.
“Well it is a gift for you.” I say as I pass the bag to her.
“Why did you get me a gift it’s not like it’s my birt...?” She stops talking when she finally sees what I got her.
“Jooordaaannnnn.....” She says in a sing-song tone.
“You didn’t have to. I actually planned to buy it before I went back. Thank you so much.” She says as she raises the dress up to get a better view of it.
“You are welcome and what are friends for?” I say as I stand up.
“Well friends are not for buying expensive gifts for each other or at least our friendship doesn’t depend on that.” She says as she folds it and puts it back into the bag.
“Our friendship is divergent...” I say smiling.
“You are the best friend any girl could ask for, do you know that?” She says as she hugs me.
“Yeah, I’ve been told that by my best friend.” I say smiling. I am glad that she is happy now.
“Wait, let me go and put this in my room before we go.” She says after we pull apart.
“No! No, no, no! I’ve waited for you long enough; let’s go you can put it there when we come back.” I drag her to my car amidst all the protests she was making.
“So where are we going anyway?” Daph asks as I start the car.
“Somewhere you will never guess, but let me give you a clue. The place we are going to, 11 years back, our parents would have murdered us if we dared to step a foot there, hell; most of the people our age who dared to go there were marched right out with threats about calling the police...” I say with mischief glinting all over my face.
“Jordan... No! You are kidding right?” Daph says with a somewhat scarred look.
“Oh yeah, we are going to Mystique, the bar we were never allowed to even stare at.”
