"gray!" lucy exclaimed, throwing her arms around the ice mages' shoulders. he slightly stumbled backwards and chuckled, wrapping his arms around her waist in return. "i'm so glad to see you.." she sobbed into his shoulder.

from a slight distance, lucy heard growling and felt an unsettling presence behind her. lucy let go of gray and turned around.

she smiled through tears. "juvia!"

"love rival.." she growled, clenching her fists and grabbing gray's coat collar and yanking him behind her, guarding him as if lucy were some vicious beast. lucy sweat-dropped and wiped her tears away.

"lucy-san!" the said blonde turned her head and saw a certain dragon slayer running her way. "wen--" lucy cut herself off as the child tripped and fell face first into the dirt. "--dy."

"i-i'm okay!!" wendy screamed, scrambling to her feet and burying her face in her hands-clearly flustered. lucy giggled and walked over, wrapping her arms around her small figure.

the girl shyly returned the hug, a light blush dusting her cheeks as she was face to face with lucy's breasts.

gray and juvia watched from afar, amused looks on their faces.

gray's soft look turned hard as he remembered his mission. he turned to juvia and nodded, receiving one back.

"lucy. we have something to talk to you about." the blonde let go of the girl and looked to gray, falling into his gaze. "about?"

he sighed and looked down. 'should i just be forward with it? or.. gentle?' before he could make up his mind, his mouth spoke for him. "well.. i'm going to be forward with this."

lucy nodded for him to continue.

"lucy, you're in danger." her eyes widened and she sucked in a breath. "danger? by what?"

gray clenched his fists and looked her in the eye. "natsu."

~ natsu ;

"happy, look! it's magnolia!" natsu exclaimed, pointing to the large town down below their feet. "faster, happy!!" happy nodded, his wings glowing and magic flowing through them. "aye! maximum speed!!"

the two bolted through the clouds, headed straight to the city they've come to know since their youth. the only thought racing through natsu's mind was lucy.

happy slowed, and landed natsu in the entrance of magnolia. he brushed himself off and slowly walked inside.

"wow.." he whispered, shocked by how emptier it had gotten over the year. "what happened here?" few villagers and passerby's walked across the streets. soft whispers came from their mouths.

this was nothing as natsu remembered. this town was packed with passerby's and swarmed villagers. never a day was quiet with all their talking.

this was unusual.

natsu shook off the thought and began his run through the emptied town. few people noticed, and whoever did; whispered things such as, "eh? isn't that-" "natsu dragneel?" "has fairytail returned!?"

natsu paid no mind to the whispering villagers and proceeded running through town. first he'd visit lucy's home, then would go to fairytail and beat that gray fullbuster's face in!

his eyes widened as he caught a whiff of lucy's scent. "happy!! this way! i smell her, i can smell lucy!!!" happy let out a cry of joy and followed natsu.

'her scents getting closer..' he thought, looking around at his surroundings. he found himself standing in the middle of a dark forest, it's tall trees towering over the two and encasing them in darkness. natsu lit his finger on fire.

"happy.. why would lucy be in such a place?" natsu whispered, feeling suddenly uneasy. "i-i'm not sure, nat-zu.."

a branch snapped in the distance, and lucy's smell suddenly felt closer than ever. "lucy?" natsu called out.

but before he could shout her name again, a beam of dark magic zoomed past natsu, making him gasp and hopped out of the way.

he clenched his fist, fire encasing his hand. his eyes darted around the dark wood, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration. a scowl made it's way onto natsu's face.

"happy." he said lowly, sending shivers up the exceeds spine. "a-aye?"

"we've got company."
