The Night

A new ally

      "Wait... It was you? Who I saved on the first night? And, you who lured every single Reaver out...?" She stared in disbelief,"Stop messing with me,". She refusedti believe me, and there wasn't anything I could do about it so I changed the subject.
      "So, wanna go find your friends? They can't be that far, and they probably aren't dead," I offered,
"Probably" she exclaimed putting quotation marks up with her hands," Aren't you reassuring, but sure, and I must warn you, our hideout is pretty far away," so, I gathered up the rest of our food supplies, leaving a small amount hidden in case she betrayed me, and slept for one more night hidden away before we set out.
The early morning sun glistened and made her eyes sparkle, she shot me a brilliant smile as we ventured away, ready to find her 'hideout' and her friends. It was peaceful and now the streets were totally deserted with no-one around. It was just the two of us against the world.
       It was hardly an hour before we both heard something in an alleyway, we ignored it and progressed on through the dusty streets but the noise persisted and it felt like something was following us. I expressed my concerns to Arya and she checked around before screaming and shouting at me to run, instantly without questioning I ran, to see behind me those Reavers there. Except they weren't Reavers... They were more humanlike and less gruesome, it almost looked like a normal human but it was deranged with wild eyes not to forget it was trying to kill me and Arya.
      "Up here," she signalled as we entered the rooftops and resumed a walking pace,"That thing... What was it?" She questioned to be met with a shrug.
       "Well, does this mean the day isn't safe then, what do you think? We just gotta be extra careful and stick together," I mused. We walked in silence for a few hours, this time without trouble, before she asked a question,
     "Do you have any family then Kreis? You know them well? They still, uh, alive?" It caught me off guard and I broke into a sob, they were probably dead and I'd never see them again...
"Sorry, I just.... Yeah, I have family," I spoke inbetween my sudden bout of tears,"Yeah, had a mum, dad and a brother. God, it feels like years ago. They're probably dead now, had a younger brother called Jacob. I used to call him Jakey, he's probably gone... God, why is the world so cruel?" She gazed at me sympathetically, must be worse for her, she never had any family to begin with.
     "I feel ya, my friends were like family, there's always hope though, that's why we're looking for my friends though, right?"
      Suddenly, a cry echoed out and 2 people, a girl and a boy, ran towards us before grappling Arya in a hug,"Oh my God, your alive, your alive," the girl sobbed. The boy grinned awkwardly then asked,"Who's this boy then? Your boyfriend?" He teased and Arya blushed. "You must be Paul and Alicia then?" I asked,
     "Oh we were just looking for you," I stated casually like it was the most natural thing in the world to be jumping across buildings looking for someone.
     It was a pretty wierd reunion you know, I was chilling sitting on the side of this building, Alicia still hugging Arya, pouring her eyes out and Paul standing there embarrassed and nervous. He looked at me as if I would kill them all if left alone, I didn't like it at all."Guys, hate to interrupt the reunion and all, but look at the sky," I noted, the sun was lowering and the sky rising,"And I don't wanna spend another night out here. Ever. Ever again!" Night was nothing but bad and I should avoid it at all costs, I mean do I even need to explain this?
      "Eh, it's fine we ain't that far out," Paul insisted,"We got time, if your staying with us that is," Arya had finally finished hugging Alicia and came to stand by my side,"Course he's staying with us. His setup isn't all that, it's on the ground for a start. What good is that? Anything can get to him, oh just wait till you see our hideout!" She chirped cheerfully,"You'll love it, the sky looks so beautiful and you won't get torn apart if a Reaver pops in, we have weapons. Proper weapons,"
     The sun lowered even more, I was beginning to get worried but, y'know if they said it was close and I shouldn't worry who was I to judge? I just hoped they weren't exaggerating. A bit later, whilst they were still chatting away I shouted,"RUN," as I saw the figure of Reaver's beneath us. "LOOK, REAVERS JUST RUN!" There was time to be mad at them later; had they not seen the time?! It was fine, they hadn't seen us properly, the Revaers were just roaming for now. Paul led the way and us 3 trailed just behind. It sure did look beautiful now I had a chance to admire the sky without being hunted.
      The moon glistened and everything seemed fine for a minute. I didn't describe Paul and Alicia did I? Well, Paul had hazel brown hair and seemed very headstrong. He seemed like the boss, Alicia however was really modest and quiet with long flowing blonde hair and blue eyes. I wondered if they had a relationship? They did seem pretty close.
How long could our luck last? Nothing had come to attack us, we were out in the open on a building in the night and miraculously safe. "Hey, can we go check out this hideout of yours, I don't think this is safe," I asked,
     "Chicken, you scared little boy?" Jeered Paul, though it was intended as a joke I felt like he somewhat intended to dishearten me.
      "I don't like to die, you have a problem with that? Cause you may act hard but against those things you don't stand a chance,"
     "Hmmf, if you say so, fine. Follow me," and he started walking towards their base, and hell was it close.
It took about 3 minutes of light jogging and we were there, a tall towering skyscraper with all the windows boarded up and small bits of scaffolding leading up to the top, a nice hotel room furnished with decorations and an array of filled up minibars scattered around. "Right, your place..." and I gave Arya a flat stare,"You kept this a secret up until now?"
