Opposite Soulmates - Merome

Chapter 2

    As soon as I started to lean in he ran. Who was he? Why did I feel so... free with him? Either way I don't know what that was about. It's just strange how he didn't kill me. He had the perfect chance to strike. Interesting.

     I walked back to the cavern, this time being more careful and quiet. I walked inside to be greeted by Ty and Adam. Adam tossed me my diamond axe. Ty had his iron sword and Adam had his gold or as he called it 'butter' sword. I had forgotten that today was a training day. We had built a huge area made especially for training behind our cavern.

    "You ready Jerome?" Adam asked. I nodded in reply. I wasn't sure whether to tell them what had just happened today so I kept quiet for now. "Is your leg feeling better?" He asked. Once again, I nodded.

     We walked to the training area. This is where I taught myself how to aim and shoot a bow. We had targets to shoot to and throw swords/knives at. Our horses were also here. I had found mine in the forest. She had an infection on her eye from a vampire attack. I took her here and helped her as much as possible but there was not much to do, so now she's blind from that eye. I ended up keeping her and naming her Betty. Adams horse is a male named Weezy. Ty doesn't have a horse yet so he rides on the back of Adams horse.

    "Here." Adam said handing me my bow and some arrows. I made this myself and I'm pretty proud of it. I aimed to the target which had a blue outline and a red dot in the middle. I concentrated hard on the red spot. I let out a shaky breath and shot.

    "It was close." Ty said trying to make me feel better. The arrow had hit an inch above the red marking.

   "It's been over 10 years and I still can't shoot a bow properly." I reminded him. He shrugged his shoulder and starting practicing himself.

    We practiced until night came. We set up a campfire to relax a bit. I had a small blanket wrapped around me unlike Adam and Ty who just snuggled. The bright fire and shining stars brought light to the cruel dark world.

    "How do you know when someone is your soulmate?" I blurted out without thinking twice. They looked at me with confused expressions. "Just curiosity." I quickly added. Maybe a little too quickly. Adam began speaking.

     "Well once you meet the one you're destined to be with, you feel a connection. It's a feeling that cant really be described by words. You kind of feel a strange feeling of relief... Freedom. Like if you were trapped inside yourself and someone came to rescue you. It's complicated but what I can tell you is that the first time you guys look into each others eyes, you will know. All these crazy thoughts will come into your head. Thoughts that you never would have thought of. It might be confusing but once you experience it, you will understand. It's love at first sight really."
