That's Logan up above :)
School was the same as it had been the past week. Except for today, a slight drizzle was lying in the air as the sky opened up and washed out the land. I pulled my the hood to my white jacket over my head and hurried into the cafeteria. The rushing sound of laughter, voices, even whispers was too much for me to handle. I winced as pain shot through my temple and nausea rose in my stomach at all the smells.
What the hell is happening?
I turned back the way I came and decided to have lunch in the library. The librarian, Mrs. Fidd, was one of the nicest middle aged ladies I'd ever met. She was taller than the average woman and had a lean build on her. Her square glasses covered up intense green eyes, and her fading red hair cut off at her shoulders.
Mrs. Fidd wasn't in the library though, I noted as I came in. Sighing, I plopped down at the table in a corner facing the door. I didn't feel like eating so instead I just payed my head on the table and listened to the rushing wind outside and... the leaves? There was no way I should be able to hear them this distinctly yet, the rustling of leaves was there. I was in such a peaceful spot that at first I didn't hear the faintest creak of the double doors opening. But I heard the footsteps approaching in my direction.
Slightly tilting my head I looked at the stranger intruding my personal space. He stood maybe an inch or two above 6ft and his golden hair was caught in waves around his ears. His bronze eyes were trained on me and a smirk held itself in place on his pink lips. A dimple was prominent on his left cheek. I raised my eyebrow at him.
"This seat taken?" He asked in a scratchy, yet deep voice. His arms flexed- on purpose, maybe?- as he pulled the chair out across from me and sat before I could answer. His eyes never left mine once as I sat straight.
"Actually, that seat is taken," I said almost defensively. He chuckled.
"Ah, I see. You were just waiting on your friends to show up...?" He questioned as he trailed off. I pursed my lips.
"Maybe," I responded a little too sharply. I grit my teeth as another throb of pain threatened to split my head open. He nodded.
"You don't have any friends though." He said it so confidently I was a little embarrassed at my awful socializing skills. Everyone had been avoiding me like the plague since the fight.
"Actually, I do, thank you. And you're not one of them so if you'll just leave now, of appreciate it." I let my head go back to the table. His steady breathing let me know he was still there.
"What's their names?" He asked as he pulled a brown sack out of his backpack and started pulling out its contents.
"Why should I tell you? I don't even know you," I mumbled, the words coming out smudged since half my mouth and cheek were pressed against the cool tabletop.
"Well, I'm Logan. And you're a pretty big hit around here, so I thought I'd like to know you."
I sighed, hoping he'd get the hint to leave me alone. He didn't.
"Jessica," I said, giving up on ignoring the Greek god before me. Lifted my head, my long hair spilling onto the surface as I did so. His eyebrow shot in the air as a piece of bread caught itself on the corner of his mouth. He hurried and swallowed before asking me to repeat myself.
"My best friend's name is Jessica. I have other friends I suppose, but Jessica is like my other half." I don't know why I was explaining this to him. Some part of me was screaming at myself to shut up, while another part was tired of spending my days and nights alone. I needed a friend here.
His smirk turned into a boyish, full out grin. "So you're two halves a full idiot?" He asked as he eyed me down while laughing.
I couldn't help the smile that made its way across my lips. I chuckled. "Yeah, I guess so."
"I still can't believe you kicked Annie's ass. It was pretty epic though. That girl needed knocked a peg or two." His eyes glistened mischievously. I looked away, slightly ashamed and shrugged.
"James is pretty pissed though," he commented as he brushed some of his hair back. It was my turnt I raised an eyebrow. I didn't know anyone named James. At least not from here.
"Annie's brother. He's pretty.... protective of his baby sister." I nodded my head almost as if in agreement. The bell rang then before I could answer.
"Shit!" I hissed, jumping up and grabbing my backpack. Throwing it over my shoulder I pushed back my chair. "We're gonna be late!"
Logan was by my side as we hurried down the corridor. I glanced sideways at him. "What class do you have next?" I asked.
"P.E," he replied, easily keeping pace with my small trot. I frowned as is topped in front of my Biology class door.
"The gym is the opposite way though," I said slightly confused. He smirked as he came a little closer to me.
"I know. I just wanted to walk my girl to her class." He kissed my cheek and a couple cheers sounded from within the classroom. "Plus your ass looks pretty great in them yoga pants."
He turned on his heel then, smiling like a Cheshire cat. Gulping I turned to face the classroom and sat in the first seat I found.
He is so dead next time I see him!
