Draco's POV
"Good morning mother." I walked into the main living room to find my mother alone, sitting on her favourite armchair.
She wiped a tear from her eyes and pretended to be ok as she swiftly got up to hug me. "Merry Christmas Draco." She faked enthusiasm. "Where's Jesinta?"
"She's still upstairs getting ready; she should be down shortly."
"Well, you've done very well to get her here and you'll be pleased to know that the Dark Lord had chosen tonight as her initiation."
"Tonight?" I shouldn't be so shocked; I knew this was coming.
"Yes, after I get back from visiting your father we will be having a few choice guests over. Your aunt Bella, Rodolphus, Severus and of course the Dark Lord himself will grace us with his presence. Your role at this point is just to get Jesinta to the dining hall for dinner tonight. That's where we will complete your mission." She seemed nervous. "Once you and Jesinta get back to Hogwarts you will continue to fulfil your duties by fixing the Vanishing Cabinet and having Jesinta get close to Potter."
I nod along. "What if she doesn't want to join our side?"
"She doesn't have a choice in the matter at this point." She said.
"What do you mean Mother?"
"Oh sweetie," She put her hand on my shoulder, "If Jesinta doesn't want to join willingly, the Dark Lord will make her. There is no stopping now."
Jesinta's POV
I take longer than usual to get ready this morning as I am too busy gushing over my new puppy! I'd already decided to call him Westley. Draco had already got him a black collar with diamantes all around it. He was just the cutest puppy I have ever seen.
I make my way downstairs to join Draco and Narcissa in the living room.
"Merry Christmas Narcissa.'" I say as I walk into the room.
She walks over to me with a friendly smile and hugs me, "Merry Christmas."
I hand her a gift that I had sneakily gotten her while out on our shopping trips.
"Aw, thank you Jesinta." She says holding the present, "You shouldn't have worried about getting me anything."
She gives me another hug once she's opened it, it was scarf from one of her favourite designers. She walks over to the side table near the window and picks up a perfectly wrapped present. "I got you something too Jesinta." She walks back over and hands me the gift.
"Thank you Narcissa."
She had gotten me a magical jewellery box, meaning it will only ever open in my presence. Draco and his mother also exchanged gifts. The house elf brought up some hot drinks and we stayed by the fireplace for a while just relaxing and talking.
"Well," says Narcissa standing up, "It's time for me to get going. Thank you both for the wonderful morning." She kisses Draco on the forehead. "I'm off to see your father now." She says to Draco. "I trust I'll see you both tonight for dinner. Eight O'clock in the dining room."
Draco and I both nod, "See you then." I say.
Once Narcissa has apparated out of the room, I get up and walk over to Draco's armchair and perch myself on his lap. "So, what do you want to do today?" I smile at him; ecstatic we are alone again.
"Well I have one idea." He smirks as he starts kissing me...

Later that night we are up in Draco's bedroom getting ready for dinner. I choose a long, cobalt blue dress with a low back and lace off the shoulder sleeves.
"Do I look ok?" I ask Draco while brushing my hair.
"You look beautiful as always." He replies.
I walk over to him, "Are all those horrible people going to be here again tonight?"
"I'm afraid so Jesinta." He takes my hands in his. "You have to understand that this is my world and this is what comes with it."
"What do you mean?" I encourage him to elaborate.
"My family and I can offer you protection. Things aren't like they used to be around here. The wizarding world is changing and there's nothing we can do to stop it. It's important that you understand that. Understand what is best for both of us."
Draco's POV
I feel selfish saying these words to her. The truth is I don't think this is what is best for her, but it was what's best for me and my family. What's best for her is to get the hell out of here, away from the Manor, away from Hogwarts and away from me. But I have a task to complete and tonight is the night.
