Have you ever heard this phrase? People always leave?

Well, if you have, and if you know me, it's quite probable that you heard it from me.

People Always Leave. I know I'm gonna get a lot of flak from a lot of people for saying this, but they do. People leave. They always do.

When I say people always leave, that does not necessarily always mean packing your bags and moving to the south pole. No. It means becoming so detached with someone mentally, psychologically, EMOTIONALLY, that it's as good as them not being there with with you. Calming you. Comforting you. Holding you. Making you whole.

When I first heard this phrase, my first reaction was, "Pfft. That's bullshit." But little did I know how naive I was being, and that this phrase would eventually end up being my tagline. Maybe this is what they'll engrave on my gravestone as well. 'People Always Leave.'

And why should't I believe that? Everyone I know, has either left physically, or has just been.. lost. And this is what is left of me. A husk. No heart. No emotions. No tears. Only numbness.

It's so funny. You center your entire being, your entire existence around someone, and when they do leave, it's like you're thrown into a void. Where everything is so constricted, yet there are no visible boundaries. Where you lose your last remaining sense of gravity and the hold on yourself. And you're just left there. Floating in nothing and yet feeling everything.

But as much as we'd like to believe it does, the world doesn't stop. The stars don't stop twinkling, the moon doesn't stop shining and the earth doesn't stop spinning. Everything goes on, the universe moves on, it's just you, who is stuck. Unable to move. Grasping at an equilibrium that seems to elude you every time you get close.

So yeah. People do leave. But maybe you just gotta find the ones worth fighting for..
