WHAT HAPPENS AFTER HIGH SCHOOL

Chapter 9

It was a pretty bright and sunny afternoon. The weather was nice and the sky was blue. Yet for Natasha, the day had a gloomy effect on her. Sh knew that with every passing day, it meant a day less for she and Richard. The next day was graduation. Even though she was happy to be officially done with highschool, she wasn't happy. It was a bittersweet feeling. And she knew why.

She was still in her room brooding when she got a text from Richard.

"Hey...wanna do something fun? "

"What do u have in mind? " she replied.

"Get ready. I'll be at your place in 10.okay?"

Ever since they both saw The Fault in our stars, he became fond of signing off his texts with 'Okay' like Gus. And it was sweet.

Since if was sunny,she decided to wear a pair of jeans and a tank top. She completed the outfit with a pair of sneakers. She packed her hair into a messy bun and was applying lip gloss when her phone beeped. It was a text from Richard.

"You better get yourself down here cuz if i come in, I'm carrying you down". 

She smiled to herself and quickly grabbed her purse and phone.

Few minutes later they arrived at the park. It was the perfect place to be on a sunny day (except the beach that is). She was squealing with excitement and she hugged Richard.

"Thanks for bringing me here. It was as if you knew i needed to get away from home "

"It's all cool.. So what do you wanna do first? " he asked

"Let's ride the Ferris wheel " she said pulling him along.

He balled at first. She noticed it and stopped.
 
"Hey what's wrong? "

"The thing is.. Uhm.. I'm.. Uhm... He stuttered.

"Don't tell me... No-  she said, her face in awe- You're afraid of heights?

She burst out laughing and when she saw Richard's face flush with embarrassment, she laughed even harder.

They had an amazing time at the park. It was just what she needed to get her out of her brooding mood.
The feeling of camaraderie hung in the air as they walked linking hands, each holding a balloon.

"Let's take pictures. He suggested.

"Great I'll snap you and you'd snap me"

He chuckled. "Who said anything about snapping each other?

He started walking and she tagged along until they got to a photo booth. He slid some money inside the machine and they went in and took some pictures. The last picture, Natasha was smiling and waiting for the counter, Richard bent and kissed her on cheek, with her eye lit in surprise and her mouth wide open, the counter clicked zero and the picture snapped. When they got out, he took the pictures and smiled

"These are some nice pictures. I like this one you look adorable he teased you can have the rest I'ma keep this one" he winked at her and tucked the picture in his wallet. She smiled.

She arrived home and headed straight to the bathroom for a shower. When she came out she remembered Richard had gotten her a present, so she quickly fished out her purse and brought out the little parcel wrapped up in a bow (how typical of him...PS. that's me talking not Tasha).  There was a note attached to it and it read Happy Graduation.
Inside the box was a necklace that had RichyTasha imprinted on it.  She was amazed when she saw it and she called Richard.

"Hello.. Who's this? He asked feigning ignorance

"Seriously Richard it's Natasha "

"Natasha who?  Oh! Natasha the pretty little Missy from Emerald high " he exclaimed.

"Thanks Richard, for the present.. I love it "

"And i love you Natasha, with all my heart ".

She felt chills run down her spine not because Richard told her he loved her, but because she was scared of what would happen after highschool....
