After a few more torturous periods, the school day was finally over. I said goodbye to my friends and went home.

I walked into my room and chucked my bag on the floor. Sighing, I flopped onto my bed and plugged my charger into my phone. I clicked onto Instagram and saw the notification for Jonathan's account. I pressed follow and then scrolled through my timeline for a couple minutes.

All of a sudden, a buzz came from my phone. I got a dm from Jon.

Jonathan: Hi
Xanthe: heyy
Jonathan: What are ya doin rn?
Xanthe: lol not much, im just chilling
Jonathan: same hah
Xanthe: soooo
Jonathan: soz if this sounds creepy but do you wanna catch up and show me around the neighbourhood?
Xanthe: yeah of course, do you live in blackstone?
Jonathan: Yeah, how'd you know?
Xanthe: i didn't know, i live in blackstone lol so i just asked to see how far away you lived
Jonathan: oj

Jonathan: oh*
Xanthe: oh ahaha so do u wanna catch up now?
Jonathan: yeah sure, I live on 18 Grove St if that helps you figure out where I am rn
Xanthe: you're kidding me
Jonathan: No? Don't tell me we live in the same street
Xanthe: no lmao but you're on the next street over
Jonathan: what a weird coincidence
Xanthe: true lol
Jonathan: hah
Xanthe: so I guess should I walk over to your house now? we can just walk around and I'll show you the shops and where everyone hangs out
Jonathan: yeah cool, my parents aren't home rn so I can leave aha
Xanthe: Haha I'll be there in like 5 mins byee
Jonathan: see ya soon x

As I looked at his last text, a massive smile grew on my lips. He put an 'x' on his message.

Anyway, I unplugged my phone and put it in my pocket. I checked myself out in the mirror quickly to check if I looked dead. Which I did, but not as dead as I could. Good.

I ran down my stairs and told my mum that I'm catching up with some friends and that I'd be home by at least 5:30. She handed me a $10 note, questioned me about who I was seeing and then finally said goodbye. I ran out the door with a smile on my lips, excited to see Jon.

As I rocked up to his house, I saw him sitting on the deck out the front. He was playing on his phone, looking focused.

"Hey." I said, causing him to look up.

"Oh, hey." He smirked. I laughed and walked up to him.

"Sorry, I took so long." I sighed, sitting down next to him, "my mum wanted to know every detail about who I was hanging out with and all that shit."

"It's fine." He grinned, turning off his phone and looking at me.

After what felt like hours of him staring at me, I finally jumped up and said, "So, where do you want to go first?"

He thought about it for a moment, "Well, I'd like to see the shops first, and then maybe a cool hang out spot and then your favourite place." He smiled.

"Well, okay. We should get going if I wanna get home in time." I laughed. I put my hand out for him to grab, but instead of getting up, he pulled me into his lap. He laughed and I looked up at him, with a confused yet happy look.

"I just wanted to see you fall for me." He smirked.

"Jon," I groaned, but hid a smirk, "C'mon, lets go."

After walking around the neighbourhood for about an hour, Jonathan said to me, "isn't about time to show me your favourite place?"

"Yeah, I guess. But, I don't really know my favourite place." I said, trying to think about a place that made me happy.

"Surely there must be a special place for you? I remember back in LA, I always loved going to a hidden lake near my house. I loved just sitting there and listening to the water flow." He said whilst he fiddled with his hair.

"Damn, that sounded really poetic." I laughed.

Jonathan smiled at my comment. "Hmm, I might know a place to take you now." I said quickly.

Jon grabbed my hand and looked into my eyes, "Ready to go?" He asked with a smirk plastered on his face.

"Sure." I replied with a smirk. I pulled him along, all the way down the street and into my secret place.

My 'special place' as Jon called it, was an abandoned building that was a light green colour with plants growing up the walls and through the broken windows. Behind the massive building, was an empty car park. Flowers grew along the perimeter of the concrete. It was a calming place, now I get why Jonathan wanted me to take him here.

"Wow, it's beautiful here." Jonathan uttered.

"I know, I sometimes come here to chill if I'm stressed. I guess I never realised how nice this place actually was." I said.

"Have you ever been in the building?" Jonathan started walking up to the building, trying to look inside although almost all the windows were boarded up or completely covered in plants.

"No, because all the windows are boarded up as you can see. But, I'd like to." I chuckled lightly.

"Oh, damn." Jon muttered, looking down at his watch.

"Is it time to go home?" I asked, feeling kind of disappointed.

"Yeah, sadly." He groaned. His sadness was funny to me, so I let out a giggle. He lifted his eyes to mine and smirked.

"You know what? You should come back to my place." He stated.

I furrowed my eyebrows, "Woah. Bit fast, mate." I chuckled. "Also, I have to go home." I thought about what would happen if my parents found out that I was hanging out with a boy.

"It's fine, just go home and tell your parents that you're going to your new friend's house to watch a movie or something like that." He said with a smile growing on his face.

"I can't, Jonathan. I mean, I'd like to, but my parents don't like me going out after 6ish and especially with new friends that are boys." I exclaimed sadly.

"Oh." Was all that Jonathan said. It sounded like a wave of sadness had washed over him.

"How about tomorrow afternoon instead?" I asked, trying to brighten up the mood.

"Sure. Oh, you can meet my mum as well. She's really nice, you'll like her." He smiled and walked over to me. "Want me to walk you home?"

We started walking to the street to go home. "That'd be nice, but you should turn off onto your street instead of mine. It would make more sense."

"Yeah, sure." He laughed and wrapped his arm around me, squeezing me lightly which left butterflies in my stomach and my cheeks burning a rosy red colour.
