Chapter 5
scintilla
The Phantomhive's household was indeed elegant and sophisticated. The morning sky was clear blue, the same as the earl's eyes. The air was soft and clean, with the smell of spring in the breeze.
Lady Katherin took a morning walk around the earl's garden. There are various types of flowers in the garden. Especially blue bells, which blooms beautifully in every corner of the garden. She continue to aimlessly walk around and stumble across a glasshouse. Amazed by this she let herself in. "The weather seems to be more hot and humid in here." She muttered.
" The glasshouse control the temperature for the plants that are grew here." Came a sweet male voice. " Ah~Sorry I didn't mean to scare you lady Katherin ."
" no worries" Katie spoke breezily to The boy had fair hair and blue eyes she assumed was Finny." Just call me Katie." She smiled sweetly. At least she could be casual towards the servants. Play around and be silly with them, they seemed really nice. " You grew these?" Katie tried striking up a conversation.
" hmm hmm" he nodded enthusiastically. " Serling white roses are master's favourite flower. They won't bloom until the next eight months." He suddenly grabbed her hands dragging her to the flowers. " I increased the temperature to increase the rate of the flowers growth, I bet master would be so surprised. Yay~!" He grinned widely at his master piece. A bird landed on the girl's black head. Finny's eyes went wide with a bewildered expression. Pointing at the bird he shouted, " Woooow! I never seen a marsh tit bird that close before!" The bird stared making a nest out of the giggling girl's hair. " It likes you!"
"Ahahaha stop!" The girl bursted into a fit of laughter as the bird nuzzled into her neck.
Thkk
Bshhhhhhh
The temperature increased immensely. " Finny, don't you think it's 'abit' too hot?"
" Oh no. Sebastian is going to be so mad! The temperature controlling system broke!" The boy panic running around, trying to fix the system. Katie took this opportunity to slyly run away.
Taking a seat on an outdoor coffee table, she opened a letter.
Dear Katie Terrasius,
I would like to inform you on black beauty's condition. She had a stomach ache because she accidentally ate cabbage. No wonder they went missing. My sincere apology my lady.
The boy Jayden has been recovering fast and steady. He kept asking where were you and talking nonsense about his brother and sister, saying things like Pennie needs help with picking flowers and throwing a tantrum. Mistress, what would you like me to do?
Best regard,
Adam.
Katie giggled like an idiot at Adam's statement. " W- Where's the -ha- c-cabbage-haha- gone HA".
Taking a turn down the polished hallway. She found herself in the library of the Phantomhive. The place was huge. It was a three floored room, the wall was entirely covered with books and there were many cozy place to cuddle up with a fancy book. Katie eyes widen in awe.
"wow" She took in a long breath, smelling the scent of old books. A smile made its way up the mistress's beautiful face. Reading was one of her favourite hobbies. It offered her head sanctuary, filled her heart with glee and relaxes her body and soul. Grabbing a pen, ink met with paper as letters after letter appeared on the parchment.
Dear Adam,
Where's the cabbage gone? In black beauty's stomach. Just kidding. I will be staying in the Phantomhive's estates until the case is close. I hope black beauty has got better. I will hand over the mansion to your care. And for Jayden, treat him well. He was a peasant by the street and was picked up by a noble who harassed him. Tell him I will visit him in a few weeks time, or maybe sooner depending on how fast we solved the case. Take care of him like he is one of our guest. If he causes a tantrum, allow him to busy himself with painting, drawing, tending the garden our taking care of the Terrasius's animal. That should keep him happy. I'll keep in contact.
Thank you,
Katie Terrasius.
A pang of loneliness hit her heart sharply. The forgotten face of Edward flashed through her mind. His fair face came out as a blur but those silky snow white hair and those saphire eyes haunted her mind. The boy bubbly personality reminded her of Edward, when they were still young and pure. She didn't want to let Jayden go.

Katie turned around to see Mey rin entered the room. Perfect timing.
" Oh Mey rin!"
"Lady Katherin. I-I didn't see you there! P-Parden m-my in intrusion." The maid turned to leave.
"N-Not at all. Mey rin, could you please send this letter to the Terrasius estate?" Katie asked kindly.
"O-Of Course my lady" Mey rin turned to leave once again.
"Wait!"
"Yes mistress?" The red head straighten her back stiffly. Katie reached out to the nervous girl and took out her glasses.Katherin broke into a beautiful smile.
"Your eyes are beautiful. You shouldn't wear glasses, it'll get in the way. You eyes, they look like the sunset was caught in them."
"That- That's really nice of you to say Lady Katherin. But my eyes sights are extremely long, I couldn't see without my specs." The maid face flushed beet red at the compliment."I-I shall be off Lady Kath- Katherin." She stutter and left the room in a blink of an eye. The mistress giggled childishly. She thought the clumsy maid was adorable.
Footsteps echoed on the marble floor as she walked around the library excitedly.Thin finger traced the spine as she glided gracefully across the second floor of the room. Glaucous eyes looked up to the top shelf. 'Sherlock home'. Staring at the tall shelf she sigh tiredly. Looking for ladders around the room, there were none. Katie sighed again and gazed at the book longingly. 'I really want to know what happen in Chapter 9'. Dragging up a chair from the first floor took a lot of effort, it left the mistress breathing hard. ' Where is Alexavier when you need him.' she puffed her cheeks. Lifting her cerise dress, she shakily stood on the chair. ' Remind me to work out more.' Going on her tiptoe she reached for the book but her fingertips barely grazed the bookshelf.
" Katherin you could always use the ladder." Katie whipped around to see the Earl. Missing her footstep she saw the world flipped in a blink of an eye, but everything was moving slow and blur. Her ivy eyes were sealed shut as she embraced herself for the impact. Arms wrapped around her firmly. She expected the floor but it never came. " Careful" She found herself unable to breath in the Earl's arms. His nose inches away from her, they were breathing in the same air- if she remembered how to breath. Those striking cobalt blue locked with hers. Her mind went blank. The world stop. Staring deep into each other's eyes they felt that connection again. Those strings of emotion entwining the both of them together. "K-Katie"
"Yes" She whispered as she gazed breathlessly into those azure blue. Snapping out of it Ciel pulled away confused and flustered as he realise their lips were too close.
"Y-You should have used the ladder." He collected himself. " I- You could have injured yourself. Or maybe you could have just asked the maid." He was composed once more. Without saying anything else. The Earl hesitantly but quickly left the room, leaving the adorable mistress completely flustered.
She quickly shouted a reply after him, " T-There weren't any ladders!"
"What were you thinking!" She gave herself a pep talk. But the image of their lips centimeter apart and those stunning robin's egg blue flooded into her pretty little head. Heat rushed up her body as the blush threaten to consume her whole. She sighed as she buried her face into her hands. " What . . . . was I doing." Katie shook her head repeatedly into her hands.
