Chapter 9

Anguished

Everything was pitch black. Not a single star in the dark night sky. Even the cloud triumph over the moon. Cold cloud of air form in front of Katie when she breathed out to warm up her frozen hands. She was so longer wearing her thick, fancy warm dress, but some rough thin material peasant wore. She walked aimlessly around portman square. Her legs shivering from tonight's cold. Her shoes tore and worn out, like the clothes she was wearing. It no longer felt safe. Nothing felt secure. Nothing to protect her. Nothing to support her. Portman square was silence. The only sound was her beating heart, pounding to the rhythm of anticipation.

The town looked abandon. People only comes out a day when the sun was shining, but once the moon loom over, everyone was in their houses, praying the spirit of the willow women will not come to steal away their children. There were no homeless people around either. Only . . . . her. A chill crept down her spine. Something shifted in the air right behind her, too close for comfort. Her petite body shook from the frosty wind. Katie broke into a run. The icy air surround her as she dashed from alley to alley. Yet the feeling of being followed, no, hunted, never left her. Collapsing down on the frozen ground she was breathing hard. The shadow in the alley offer her sanctuary. The cloud made way for the moonlight to scout her. Punching against her chest was her heart begging her to take a rest. Her onyx hair stuck to her forehead even though the night was chilly.

Loud footstep approached her too fast for her to get up and run.

"AAAHHHHH!" Katie shrieked.

The cloaked figure 'hovered' above the ground. Its sharp black claws reached for her neck. Paralyzed in place facing whatever faith had for her. She trembled like a leaf. Tears silently ran down her face, sniffing quietly to herself as the 'thing' wrapped its black claws roughly around her neck. Her oliver eyes begged for mercy as fear overwhelmed her. Blood trickled down her clavicle when the monster sank its fangs in her shoulder, she whimpered. It was no human. The thing was no human. It was a floating monster with no body. Cerise glowing eyes and fangs were levitating in the hood. The beast's claws weren't even attached to the body. Katie shook her head whispering the same thing in her head over and over again.

"This is a nightmare. This is a nightmare. This is a nightmare . This is a nightmare." Pain erupted below her chest. Searing pain of her contract mark was raw and fresh, like the first time she receive it. " This is a nightmare," A warning, a dangerous warning. The inky mark became clear as it called for Alexavier's aid. "This is a nightmare" a voice screamed, only for her to realize that voice belonged to her. Pain spreaded like wildfire, the creature ripped her deltoid with its sharp fangs. Hot thick blood showered her. Black entered her vision. She was losing her sense. She losted her grip like the night she lost her family.

Plunging into darkness, she went.

" Wellll helloooo~ little Phantomhive and his butler~ come in come in!" Ciel sat himself on the coffin seat.

" Ah~ah~ah~ I know exactly why you came~"

" Then play no more games, Sebastian-"

" Ah!" The undertaker interrupted, " no need to make me La-ha-haugh~ You want to know about the kidnapping case don't you~" he nibble on his bone cookie cheerfully. The earl remain silent. " Well I'll tell you~ consider it as a gift for mi lady Katherin~ from a good customer of mine~"
