“A little to the left!”
I walked into the school auditorium in time for Ashley to command orders. She was standing in the middle of the rows of chairs, waving her hands while two students were standing on a ladder, moving a bright red banner.
I marched down the aisles, meeting her at her spot. “Hey, boss.”
She looked at me, a wave of relief washing over. “Oh, thank god. I’m about to have a nervous breakdown. The DJ should be here any minute, so should Rebecca. The guys are already backstage but they need help getting ready.”
Out of all the things. “I’m on it.” I pushed a smile even though I wanted to scream.
I’m not exactly sure what I was prepared to see when I walked backstage. A bunch of shirtless guys? Yes, that’s what I expected. But it was overwhelming. I spotted Rai, Max, and Ash talking and laughing about something probably irrelevant to me. There were two other guys, but I wasn’t sure who they were. One was easily six feet, slim, but built. His golden blonde hair reminded me of Scott’s. The other guy was a little shorter, tan, more buff then the guy he’s talking to.
Then I see Scott.
Shirtless, smiling…He looked like he just stepped out of GQ.
He sees me and smiles. He waves for me to come over and before I could stop my feet, I’m standing in front of him. “I feel like I haven’t seen you in a year.” He joked, wrapping an arm around my shoulders and kissing the top of my head. Oh, no. “I just saw you two days ago.” That came out pretty harsh without meaning to. So I quickly smiled.
He bought it. “I’ll see you later, right?”
I was hesitant, but I nodded. “I’ll be at your house.”
“Can’t wait.” He kissed my cheek and walked away.
“That was adorable.”
I squeezed my eyes shut at the sound of his voice. I slowly turned around to find Noah standing behind me. I’m pretty sure he was standing there for a while. “I need to get information.” I clarified.
He lifted a shoulder and dropped it. “Sounds like a little more than that.”
“I’m going, Noah. Drop it.”
It took me a few minutes to realize he was indeed shirtless, too. He still had a bandage on one side, but you could barely see the bruise on the other. “How’d you get that covered up?” I pointed.
He glanced down at his side and back to me, “My mom taught me back in middle school how to cover marks up so teachers didn’t think my parents beat me. It came in handy many times.”
You could barely see it.
My eyes trained down his abdomen, stopping just above the waistband of his jeans. They hung low on his hips and it took everything to look away. “Do you need help with anything?” I forced myself to look into his eyes.
He was smirking. He knew I had been staring. “As a matter of fact, I do.” He grabbed something off of the vanity behind him. He handed it to me and I wanted to die right there. “Can’t Ash do this?”
A bottle of oil.
I’m going to kill him.
“The quicker you do it, the quicker you can get back to Ashley.”
