I stood with the chair and walked towards the couch. I located the left cushion and turned my back against it. I leaned back a little, letting my hands get a good grip on the fabric. I moved forward, dragging the cushion with me. I dropped it the the ground with a loud huff.
A sudden idea came to my head.
I wasn’t tied down to the chair.
I lifted my bound arms up from around the chair, standing up in the process. I sighed with somewhat relief and went back to the couch. I leaned backwards, letting my fingers graze until I felt the leather hilt under my fingertips. I wrapped my fingers around it and moved so I was sitting sideways on the couch. “Noah, please talk to me.” I whispered, my voice already shaking.
I managed to remove the the leather bound. I did the best to angle the knife so I could easily move it up and down against the tape. “I need you to stay awake. I’m going to get you out of here.”
“I need you…to get…out of here before…he gets back.” He struggled. He leaned his head back, letting out a loud groan.
“I’m not leaving you here. I don’t care what you say.”
For some reason, he found it in his will to laugh at me. “I don’t think you even did care.”
“Of course I care, idiot.”
He laughed again, but resulted in him starting to cough. “I need you to listen to me, Willow.”
I underestimated the amount of tape Scott used and it felt like I would never be able to cut through it all.
“If I don’t make it—”
“Don’t even finish that.”
“You need to consider the possibilities.”
I was getting beyond frustrated. I couldn’t cut through the tape and Noah’s words squeezed my heart, threatening to shatter it into pieces. “You dying is not a possibility.”
Even in his state, he managed to let out an annoyed sigh. “You’re so damn stubborn.”
“It’s what you love about me.” I teased, digging the dagger deeper into the tape.
“It’s one of the many things I love about you.”
The thought of losing Noah forever wasn’t something I was about to arrange my life around. “You should have told me sooner about Scott.”
I clenched my jaw so tight and gave more pressure as I felt the tape started to give way. “I know. But I did it to—”
“To protect me. I know, but look where that’s gotten me.”
“The more I told you to stay away, the more you went after him. The more Ash told you to stay away, the more you went after him. A downside to your stubbornness.”
The moment I felt the dagger go through the tape, I almost cried with joy. To be honest, I’m not even sure I had anymore tears left in me.
I rested my back against the couch and stretched my legs in front of me. It was easier to slice through that tape since I had full use of my hands. After I was freed, I kneeled down behind Noah, going to work on the tape around his wrists. “Willow, I’m too weak. This is p-pointless.”
