“Temptation is a woman's weapon and man's excuse.” –H.L Mencken

I sat in lunch looking around at everything surrounding me. I feel so lonely. I haven’t really felt this way since my father died. It seems like that has broken up my family the most which is why I’m always home alone. Me and my brother used to hang out so much and spent a lot of time together then. Now it’s as if I’m the only child. We haven’t even seen him in almost a year and the last time we did he was a wreck.

I took a bite of my apple and got up from the table. I made my way to the exit and started walking down the hallway. I could hear a faint sound in the distance I just didn’t know what it was exactly. As I rounded the corner I was pulled into a janitor’s closet. The light was turned on automatically and I was met face to face with Cha- Mr. Ellis himself. He took in a deep breath and started speaking in a low tone.

“Amelia….I can’t stop thinking about you. I know what we did was wrong but-“

                I sighed talking over him.

“But what? What do you have to say? That you love me, that you need me? You barely even know me. You’re just like all the other guys, you’re probably lying just to sleep with me.”

“Could you please let me finish?” He said irritated

                “Go ahead, talk.” I sneered

“What I told you the other night was true all of it. I know you’re my student and I’m your teacher but I really like you. It’s hard to just treat you like everyone else and yes I might not know everything about you but I want to. I want to know what you like to do, what’s your favorite food, I want to know all there is about you Amelia. But you wanna know what I do know?” He asked me looking me dead in the eyes.

“Yes what do you think you know?” I asked

“I know that you bite your nails when you’re nervous, and tap your pencil when you’re thinking. I know that your hair smells like raspberries and you’re favorite poet is Maya Angelou. And I want to know more as time goes on. But that’s why I brought you in here. I wanted to see…….if you wanted to go out with me…..this Friday.”

“I-I can’t. It’s too complicated right now. Tori won’t speak to me and Laith and Andrew haven’t either. It’s like I have no friends now, and it’s all because of you Chace. You did this. You just had to kiss me.”

“And you just had to kiss back.” He said taking step forward putting his arms around my waist.

I pulled away looking him in the eyes. I feel so frustrated and confused even more than I was earlier. He walked towards me leaving little space between us.

“Okay how about we make a deal?” He asked. I nodded letting him continue.

“If you let me take you out Friday and you like it than we can see where this goes.”

I sigh thinking about this whole ordeal.

“BUT if you don’t like it I’ll leave you alone and we could just keep this professional. I won’t kiss you or anything. So is this a deal?” He asked
