Kayla walked in the hot weather of California, trying to find the place where her friends were hanging out. After getting frustrated, she pulled her phone out of her shorts' pocket and dialed Devin's number.

"Where are you?" She asked after he answered.

"Turn around." He responded.

She turned to see the five sitting at a picnic bench. Groaning at herself, she walked over and sat next to Chris.

"Hello." She smiled.

"Hey Kay." Ryan replied.

"Did I miss anything?" She asked.

"Nope." Chris answered, putting his arm over her shoulders.

Vinny slid a cup of ice cream over to her. It was partially melted but she couldn't deny the orange ice cream.

"Thanks Vin." She said before taking a bite of it.

She continued eating, listening to their conversation.

"When are you guys heading back home?" Kayla asked, finishing her ice cream.

"Tomorrow." Chris replied, looking sad.

"You and I should hang out before then." Kayla said.

Chris lightened up some making her smile slightly.

"We're gonna go grab some lunch, you guys do whatever." Ricky said as everyone besides Chris and Kayla stood up.

"Have fun." Kayla said before looking back to Chris.

"So what do you want to do?" She asked.

"Want to head back to your place? It's starting to get too hot for me." Chris replied.

"Sure." She said, standing up.

They walked back to her apartment, taking in the scenery. She opened the building's door and let him step in before following. They walked up the steps to her place, she unlocked the door and walked in first.

The cooling feeling of AC made her sigh in content before she walked to the couch.

"Make yourself at home, Chris." She said, turning the tv on.

Chris sat down next to her, putting an arm around her waist. She looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

"Sorry." He said, pulling his arm back.

"Why do you keep doing that?" She asked.

"I thought girls liked it." He answered.

"Ask first." She replied, leaning back into the couch.

He scoffed and moved over to the side, putting some distance between them.

"Don't be an ass." She said.

"Excuse me?" Chris replied.

"You're making an ass of yourself."

"No I'm not! All I did was put my arm around your waist! Vinny does it to you all the time!" He yelled back, standing up.

"Vinny is my cousin! How do you think I knew him?!" She yelled back.

Chris's face lightened and he rubbed a hand over his face.

"Sorry." He replied.

She shook her head and stood up, walking towards her bedroom.

"I love you Kayla!" Chris called after her, making her stop dead in her tracks.

She looked over her shoulder at him, seeing a sad look in his eyes. Kayla walked towards him, grabbing his shirt to pull him down into a kiss.

"Then don't be an ass." She muttered making him smile.
