— year 3 class 5 —For all I could remember, those two were always the perfect match. They made up for what the other person lacked, they gave each other limits and heights to reach, they acted like themselves around one another and you could tell how much they were into each other with just a single glance.
But now, seeing those two together made me realize that ever since back then, their problems never changed. It was their common fault. Their feelings were so clear, yet they still lacked conviction to actually take action, and it was starting to frustrate me to no end.
It's always been like that, even when they were going out with each other during our third year in middle school. At this point, I was beginning to wonder if it was so hard to take some goddamn action.
In all honesty, when Oikawa told me about their little agreement, the first thing that came in my mind was 'Friends my ass'.
It was true that Shittykawa had a girlfriend, whom he started going out with out of impulse. But even based on my opinion, seeing how mature and patient Hoshino was, she was the best girlfriend he had, hands down. The ones he's had so far always complained about how he's too focused on volleyball that they barely even meet in a week. No one else could handle him as well as Hoshino Minoru could.
He was stupid that way. Even if he faced volleyball head on, to the point he'd overexert himself, when it came to Hoshino, it was as if he'd run away in a heartbeat.
Speaking of the devil.
"How come she's so sweet and kind to other people? And she looks at me as if I'm trash?!" Oikawa complained to me, while I simply replied with a scoff.
"Because you are trash, Trashykawa" I said flatly, before reminding him of what we were here for. "In the first place, stop staring at your ex-girlfriend and talk to her. We have to submit the health records for the club—".
She was busy attending to some freshman's needs when we were waiting by the door. Both Oikawa and I watched the girl kindly accommodate the said underclassman. And just with that, seeing how she's always smiling at everyone (Oikawa being the only exception), the brunette was stuck in a daze, most likely thinking about how she used to smile like that around him back in the day.
Tired of his bullshit, I made sure I hit him hard enough to leave a bump, just so I could snap him out of his thoughts, "Oi, Shittykawa are you listening?"
"That hurts, Iwa-chan!" he shouted, earning the attention of the two who were currently inside the room.
"I'll see you around then, Hoshino-senpai. Thanks for your hard work" the boy Hoshino helped just awhile ago showed her his gratitude before leaving the infirmary, allowing us to enter next.
Oikawa and Hoshino stared at each other for a moment or two, before I decided to break the ice.
"Hoshino, here's the revisions to the club's health records" I told her, motioning towards Oikawa as he handed the envelope.
"Thanks, Iwaizumi, I knew I could count on you. Ask the basketball club to submit theirs too, 'kay?" she thanked me with a small request, which I returned with a nod of recognition.
"Oi!~ Noru-chan, don't I get a thank you too?" Oikawa whined, as she shook her head and smiled deviously.
"Thanks for holding the envelope, Oikawa. It must've been a lot of work" Hoshino teased.
