Lava: Part 5

"look I'm sure this is just some kind of misunderstanding." Zuko frowns. "I swear the worse thing I did was burn down part of a forest. As far as I know nobody got hurt."

Erin glances to his left and then his right side at two men who are standing next to him. "you think we should tell him?"

"might as well he can't do anything now we're already out to sea." The one on the left replies.

"he'll probably figure it out on his own." The one on the right replies with a frown. "don't set him off on the ship."

"set me off?" Zuko questions. "what exactly am I being charged with?"

Erin smirks. "nothing at all. We just kidnapped you and you came willingly. My name is Erin and I'm not an officer of the earth nation... I'm a bounty collector."

"what!?" Zuko stares at him in disbelief. "I'm not a bou... whose paying you!?"

"my client wishes to be anonymous until the two of you meet." He smirks putting his hands behind his back. "let's just say somebody out there will pay a hefty sum to stick a blade in the fire lord personally." The three men then close the door to the room leaving Zuko alone.

"stick a blade in..." Zuko frowns. "what have I gotten into now..." he huffs and looks around the small dark dungeon like room. "well even if I had a plan for escape it'd be foolish to try escaping. I have no idea how fast this ship is moving so we could be very far out to sea and it'd be dumb to leap over the edge of the ship without knowing where we are in the water." He puzzles for a moment. "I could try taking over the ship... but I'm just one man on a ship filled with chi blockers and an earth bender... I'm really in a bad position right now." He sits on the floor and crosses his legs and stares at the door. "I guess I'll just wait. I can try escaping once the ship stops. It might be my only chance."

Aang frowns and glances over at you, you'd been pouting for most of the trip because your happy day had been spoiled. "(y/n)" Aang almost whispers.

"hm?" you glance over at Aang.

"you ok?" Aang frowns.

"no I'm not." you grumble. "why would they wait till now to arrest him Ozai has been out of power for over a year.it just doesn't seem right."

Aang puts his hand on his chin and shrugs. "maybe the earth nation just wants a trial. I don't think they really intend to punish Zuko for whatever they think he did... I think they just want him to know he isn't above the system now that he is a leader."

Iroh has been sitting quietly with his arms folded puzzling with his eyes closed. "it just doesn't make sense." He mumbles glancing at the sky. "they would have sent a messenger with a request for Zuko to make an appearance in court to atone for a crime... they wouldn't just come arrest him like this."

"your right." You puzzle. "I was studying Earth nation law with Zuko and I do remember reading something about how the nation's leaders interact. Is it possible that Zuko was not taken by the earth nation after all?"

"I don't know that blonde fellow was dressed in a way that suggests he was a military officer." Iroh frowns. "I guess it's possible he stole the uniform or is ex-military."

Aang frowns. "I'm sure Kuei will gladly tell us what's up."

(to be perfectly clear what's happening right now you are on the way to Ba-Sing-Se the earth nation capitol under the assumption that is where Zuko is heading to be tried by the ruler of the Earth kingdom. However Zuko's captor is going the other way towards the southern air temple.)
