Timothy slept on my lap that night, yet I could not sleep. We both were laying on a small wooden bench on the side of the road, which was by a closed gas station. I was crying half of the night while Tim slept. I was hurt and broken. Nothing I could do could help us. Maybe I would be better off with religion. It would be something I could live by at this time. Something I could stand by blindly. Let someone else hold my hand and guide me. Yet, that wasn't the case.
I was drifting off to sleep, tired from walking. I was almost there when I heard a car stop right by us. I looked over to see a blonde girl with blue eyes stare at us. She was petite and really feminine. Her round blue eyes reminded me of someone.
"Are you boys okay?" the woman called. Soon, even Timothy was stirred from his sleep. We both looked at the woman without word. "Are you two looking for a place to stay for the night?" I hesitated. Getting into a strangers car was the shittiest idea to be put in anybody's head, but we were desperate. I nodded. "Hop in. You can stay at my place for tonight. My son needs company. He's been separating himself from everyone. "
I told Timothy to get his bag. He was drowsy still, yet he followed along until we got into the car. It smelt of perfume and women stuff. The car was filled with pointless accessories and fuzzy ball things. It was quite a scene. The woman looked back and smiled. "Seat belts please. " I helped Timothy with his seat belt and put on mine. I made sure I could unbuckle it as well.
We were off.
~~~
The house that the woman pulled up to was beautiful. It was bigger than any house I've ever been in, considering I've never been inside a two storied house. Either which way, it was amazing. It consisted of a round drive way that leads in and out as well as a fountain in the middle. Everything was beautiful. Everything was amazing.
Timothy was just as amazed as I was. He hopped out the car while the woman was still trying to park. When he got out he waited on us. "I really thank you for helping us out," I smiled, " What can we do to repay you?"
The woman frowned. Her age really showed, for her face showed more wrinkles when she frowned. "Make my son happy again, please," she whispered, "that's what you can do... " I nodded and got out, holding my brother's hand. The woman locked the door and took us to the front door, unlocking it and opening it. We were greeted with an amazing entrance. Large space with a TV and a couch and a pool room and... It was too much to take in. All these beautiful things that I couldn't handle was place in front of me all at once.
"Please sit your stuff down and get comfortable," she smiled. I took my shoes off, thinking the woman to expect us to do that. I ordered my brother to do the same. Once we did that, we walked onto the soft carpet and looked around, "I'll take you to your room. Both of them are near my son's room. He'll probably distance himself so... " We walked up a twisting stair case that went up to a beautiful hallway. Many doors were on this hallway. And to our surprise, our rooms were huge. It was bigger than my old room. "Now, before I introduce you to my son, I have a few questions... "
Timothy and I both sat on our bed and listened. "Why did you guys lose your home?"
I hesitated to answer. "Um," I hummed, "We ran away due to the abuse and stuff.... "
"Who did this stuff to you?" She noticed the bruises on my neck and arm.
"My dad. "
"And how far would this go to?"
I went silent. "He would rape me when my mother and brother weren't home," I whispered.
The woman went silent and stared at me. We both stared at each other till a male came into the room. "Mom, who are you talking to-"
Ivy.
In only an anime t-shirt and baggy sweat pants, Ivy was standing in front of the doorway. His eyes had panned towards me as I stared at him. "Ivy," I muttered.
"Avery... "
The woman looked at the both of us and smiled. "You two know each other?"
"Yeah," Ivy mumbled as he backed up a bit, "He's an old friend of mine. "
"Right... "
I rubbed my arm and stood up. "I kind of need some rest, " I laughed awkwardly. "May I have some privacy?" The woman just stared at me before nodding. She got up and walked out of the room, holding Timothy's hand. She wished me a good rest and closed the door. Ivy stayed though. We stood awkwardly as I looked everywhere else but here.
"Your dad did that to you?" he asked. I nodded and watched as he walked up to me. I grew nervous as he wrapped his arms around me, "I'm sorry I didn't know... I wish I could of stayed around longer. Or at least I wish I knew you longer... " I nodded and felt his hands rub my back. "I'm sort of glad you ended up here, you know?"
We sat down on my bed and talked. We seemed to go silent at one point, but everything seemed perfect again. It seemed like that night, but slightly better. I leaned closer to him, hoping to maybe get to kiss him again, but he stood up.
"Well I hope we can get along," he sighed, "by the way your brother is so sweet. He reminds me of you, sort of... " I stared at him as he walked out of the room. His small frame seemed smaller from far away. He smiled at me and closed the door quite quickly. It left me in silence. I soon realized I was blushing. I grabbed my pillow and hugged it, thinking about Ivy. I thought about how nice it would be just to hold his smaller body against mine. I just felt so at home near him, even if we got into that "thing" two days ago. It felt like it never happened.
