Gemma
“Are you guys okay?” asked a concerned Gemma to the group of ice-type trainers sitting in front of her.
Hale glared. “Does it look like we’re okay?” he asked, obviously irritated.
“Okay, sorry, I was just trying to help.” replied Gemma defensively.
Hale sighed. “It’s fine. Sorry, it's not your fault. I just hate that we aren't even recognized by the majority of the group, much less acknowledged.” Hale sputtered angrily.
“It’s okay, everyone feels like that sometimes." offered Breeze. She leaned over to Gemma and whispered “Who’s the glacier girl again?”
Gemma sighed. “Okay, let's start over, everyone. Hi, I'm Gemma.” she said, offering her hand to Hale.
“I'm Hale.” he replied solemnly.
“I'm Sarge, this is Heather.” said Sarge, waving. Heather smiled and waved.
“Alice.”
“Parker.”
They giggled, offering their hands to each other. They had known each other their whole lives.
“Breeze.” Breeze offered her hand to Vera. Vera took her hand shyly.
“V… Vera.”
“Ah, you didn't consult your glacier. That's an improvement.” declared Hale.
Gemma was confused but decided not to comment.
“If you don't mind me asking, why do you have that glacier?” asked Sarge, trying not to pry.
“Oh, well, it's a gift from my sister.” Vera replied. “And its name is... “ She paused for a moment. “Icila.”
Kimberly
Kimberly sat on the roof of the Viridian City Pokémon Center, telekinetically moving around her Poké Ball and capturing one of the Pidgey from Route 1. She brought the Poké Ball back towards her and faintly heard a conversation going on between several trainers in the square below.
“If you don't mind me asking, why do you have that glacier?” Sarge asked - Kimberly assumed the question was directed at Vera.
Her suspicions were confirmed when Vera answered, “Oh, well, it's a gift from my sister. And its name is…” Vera paused. “Icila.”
Kimberly gasped. Icila… Icila… she knew that name. How did she know it… Kimberly gasped again. Of course! Icila! That girl from the café she met five years ago! A rather nice girl, really. Could conjure up ice out of nowhere. Good talker, too.
Then Kimberly stopped. Wait, Icila was Vera’s sister? And why had she named the glacier after her? Was it perhaps… a memory? Kimberly had to know. She readied her mind and began to look into the past.
“Icila, don't go up there, it’s dangerous!” called Glacia with the concern only a mother could have.
“Oh, I'll be fine, mother.” replied Icila, rebellion in her voice.
Kimberly surveyed the scene. A large mountain, somewhere in Hoenn… almost like a volcano. Mount Chimney? Kimberly had read about it and seen pictures of it before, but up close and personal - even if it was in a vision of the past - made it look so much more beautiful. Kimberly shook her head and stared at the scene below her.
Vera - no more than six - and Glacia were standing, watching Icila - who was currently standing on a bridge crossing over the open top of the volcano.
