Favourite characters:
Belle: Played by Emma Watson.
Gaston: Played by Luke Evans.
Mrs Potts (voiced by Angela Lansbury) and Chip (voiced by Bradley Pierce).Belle: Played by Emma Watson.
Emma Watson's fresh portrayal of Belle does justice to the success of the original beauty and the beast and to the character of Belle. Watson delivers her lines with anger and alienation in her eyes, which makes her audience connect with the character of Belle and relate to her along every step of her journey. Emma Watson took the character of Belle down a more emotional and even depressing route than the animated version of Belle did, partly because Emma is very raw and powerful in the more emotional scenes (for example, when Belle learns about how her mum died, and her interactions with the beast and her father). The reason why Belle is one of my favourite characters in this movie is because Watson's portrayal of Belle in unforgettable and long lasting, she took Belle in a new direction and I certainly enjoyed Belle in this version of 'beauty and the beast'.Gaston: Played by Luke Evans.
Luke Evan's portrayal of Gaston is a vital reason as to why I enjoyed this character so much, Evans shows his audience a new, very charismatic side of Gaston that definitely demonstrated to me why the townspeople were so in love with him. Up until Gaston punched Belle's father you could even say that I was rooting more for Gaston than I was for the beast, because that's how appealing Evans made Gaston in this movie (and his good looks were definitely a plus). Similarly to how I first loved Gaston and was slightly rooting for him, as soon as Gaston's true colours show I hated him with a fiery passion. However this made me enjoy this character even more because Gaston was a villain and so therefore it was a sign of good characterisation when I ended up glad that Gaston died by time the movie ended.
Mrs Potts (voiced by Angela Lansbury) and Chip ( voiced by Bradley Pierce):
I have to mention my two favourite living objects (Mrs Potts and Chip) because they made me cry the most in the scene where they're essentially dying and Mrs Potts can't find Chip. They're both voiced perfectly and are so alive considering they're objects for most of the movie. They were a joy to watch and the chemistry between them was a definite highlight of the film.
