-Monday, Spring 8, Year One-

~Harvey~

"Alright Hel, I think you're okay to walk without the crutches now." I sigh happily. Hel smiles and raises her hands to sign.

'When will I be able to start working on my farm?' Hel signs.

"I suggest you rest another week, but don't worry, there's still the rest of Spring and just about forever to keep farming." I added, seeing her worried face. "Now, I want you to take it easy until your leg is fully healed, understand?" Hel nodded, signed her thanks, and walked out.

I sighed and leaned against the wall. My shoulder ached slightly and it had been aching all day. The door opened and someone walked in, causing me to stand up straight.

"Ah! Hello! Who- Oh Shane!" I perk up slightly seeing the man walk in. There were faint grey bags under his eyes and his hair was all stuck to one side of his head.

"Hey Harvey....'m here for a checkup? Marnie sent me." He mumbled, yawning after he spoke.

"Alright, come this way." I lead him into my checkup office. I check his pulse, blood pressure, and everything else I could. He did seem a little more tired and weaker than usual, but I understood he had been through a lot in the past few days. After I checked him, I pulled out my list of questions I have to ask him. There were mostly normal answers and the expected answers, but then I started getting stranger answers.

"Okay, just one more." I say, writing his last answer. "Do you experience any emotional problems that appear serious?" He freezes up, causing me to look worriedly at him.

"Shane.....?"

He doesn't respond. His eyes glaze over.

"Shane? Are you alright?" I wave a hand in front of his face. No response. I start to panic. I stand up and place both hands on his shoulders.

"SHANE!" I yell. He suddenly jumps and shoves me away. I slam into the other wall. He was breathing heavily. I slowly walk back over to him.

"Shane?" I say softly. "Just relax buddy." He buries his face in his hands.

"I'm sorry..." He mumbles.

"It's alright Shane, I think I've got enough information for today. You just go home." I pat him on the back. "Also, if you were wondering, I saw Hel today." This got his attention. His head snapped to look at me.

"Is she alright?" He asks immediately. I chuckle and nod.

"She's fine and walking without crutches now." I then get an idea. "Hey, could you go to her house to make sure she is resting? I don't want her working until she's fully healed." Shane nods vigorously.

"Of course!" He stands up, mood changing drastically from a couple seconds ago. I smile at him.

"I want you to relax as well, Shane." I say sternly. He finally allows himself a smile and nods.

"Alright Harv, I'll try." He then walked out, leaving me alone again. I smile to myself and sigh.

"Those two were definitely made for each other."

-Shane-

I made my way along the short path to Hel's farm. I had barely been to the lot and didn't know what to expect now that Hel was living there.

I passed by the abandoned bus stop and then reached the farmland.

I saw the old house standing strong and the overgrown land that lay in front of it. I walked slowly and my heart skipped a beat when I saw Hel there, standing beautifully, her soft curls fluttering in the spring wind, her pale face and her delicate hands....

....hefting an axe.

I sprint over and grab her arm just as she is about to swing at a maple tree. She jumps in surprise and drops the axe. It narrowly misses her foot as the blade plants itself in the ground. She spins around, eyes wide and fearful until she sees it's just me. She sighs noiselessly and then looks frustrated.

'I was just about to start working until you startled me.' She signed. 'Why did you stop me?'

"Because Harvey said he doesn't want you working until you're fully healed and he wants me to make sure of that." I shrug and smirk at her angry expression. "Doctor's orders." Hel raised an eyebrow at me.

'When did Harvey put you up to this?'

"Just a few minutes ago actually." I rub my neck awkwardly. "Marnie sent me to the clinic to get a checkup. Said I looked like crap."

'You do look awful' Hel signed, grinning at me. I frown and she nudges me playfully. 'I am just goofing with you. Seriously though, you need rest as much as I apparently do. Hey, if I can not do any work, want to hang out with me?' I immediately blushed.

"Wh-what do you want to d-do?" I stammer out. Hel thinks for a moment and her face then lights up.

'Can you tell me and show me more about the valley and the town?' Her hands ask me. 'I will be living here for quite some time so I should probably get to know my place of residence better, right?'

"How long will you be living here exactly?" I ask, my face heating up slightly and my pulse racing. Hel shrugs and smiles.

'Most likely forever.' She grins. I return her smile.

"Then I'd love to show you everything the valley has to amaze you." I offer my arm to her. She takes it, miming giggling.

We walk off, me leading her and her trusting me to show her something amazing.

And I was ready to impress this girl, no matter what it takes.
