Walls

You say you know me

You will always claim to understand my being

But how can a found soul know one that is lost

A soul that is no longer free to love

But is not stopped by any bars or chains

Not even a door stands in the way of my freedom

Simply a tall impenetrable wall that I built

With seemingly a mind of its own

Stretching and growing and changing

Each person comes at me thinking from a different angle

Thinking they can get inside and learn me better than I know myself

So how come no one has

Why does the wall go past the earth's very core

And stretch to planets yet discovered

Why so thick nothing can drill through or break it

See sometimes there's an exception

Someone finds a weakness, cracks the wall

They can see me

They can't see everything through their little peephole

But they see enough

I'm vulnerable, lying in their hands

I think I can trust these people

The ones who find their way to my heart

Who break my walls

But they're why others can't get through

For they continue to get through until they've almost got me bare

But then they get scared

So they run, leaving me to fix my wall

Make it stronger

To hide my soul better

Maybe if no one could see what was on the other side

Then no one would ever leave

So I'll fix it

Make it thicker

Use a stronger material

Increase it's height

No one will get though I think

But someone like you can

You find your way through

And you make your way through a little bit more every time we speak

And trust me I want to run

Because I fear you'll be just like the rest

But I can't make myself, you've burst through the pocket of hope

That lies dormant within the stone and soil even the very air around my wall

And I can't look away from you

You have me falling for you, my wall becoming weaker for you

While the others are still trying to get through the same one they were before

But I know I'll be crushed

I've a hidden fence

That will hide what I need with it

So that when you get through

I can be almost true

I'm ready to never have you

So break it down

My wall is simple brick

The cement old and weak

Break through so that I can be destroyed
