8 weeks seemed to fly fast and before I knew what was happening, Avery was packing her bag to go stay at her parents house since I wasn't allowed to see the bride before the ceremony. It was weird waking up to an empty bed and not the warm body of my fiancée as she slept soundlessly. Bella and Charlie have been quiet as they missed their other owner who always gave them cuddles in the morning and while I gave them their morning cuddle when I woke up it wasn't the same as Avery.

"I swear if you undo your tie one more time, I'm going to strangle you with it" a familiar voice said that had me rolling my eyes with a chuckle. Looking at the reflection of my mother as she stood at the doorway with her arms crossed over her chest and a brow raised. She looked beautiful. She had on a floor length navy blue dress with her chocolate hair up in a bun with a few strands down framing her face. She walked over me swatted my hands away from my tie and works on it

"You look handsome sweetheart" she said her voice cracking making me smile and she returned it "I didn't think that I'd been seeing my youngest son getting married. I always expected on of your brothers to be the ones to marry their partners"

"Well it seems Marcus and Sven aren't thinking that far just yet" I chucked and she shook her head with a smile

"I'm proud of you, you know" she said as tears filled her eyes and I wiped them away giving her a smile " you've grown so much and it feels surreal to think that in less than an hour you'll be marrying your best friend. Avery is a wonderful young woman and I couldn't have asked for a better daughter in law then her. I've never seen you so happy before and seeing you smiling as laughing warms my heart because she's the one making all of that happen"

I swallowed the knot in my throat as she spoke and for the first time in a long time, I get to see just how much she's been hurting. Behind all the make up she's wearing I can see the wrinkles and dark bags she carriers because of her worry.

"I'm happy by just because of her mom. I'm happy because I have this strong, beautiful and hard working woman standing before me. You and dad have worked hard to get where you are and that motivates me to be the best I can and to one day tell my future children where my inspiration came from. You've had my back ever since I can remember and I cannot thank yo enough for always supporting me and my decisions even if they hurt you" I murmured and she sniffled with a smile and I kissed her forehead.

My parents, before they even had children,  came to this country looking for the American dream, something that many immigrants are searching for. They were newly weds with this dream of starting their own business but as time went on, they saw how hard it was to start a business when you didn't know the language. They worked minimum wage working in restaurants as a dishwasher and waitress to taxi and hotel maids. When my brother, Marcus was born they were living in a tiny studio with barely any means.

They worked their asses off so my brother could have a good future. They worked hard to save enough money to move out of the studio and into a decent enough apartment where all three of my brothers lived. When I was born, we lived in a three bedroom house barely making it. If it wasn't for my grandparents help, we would have been in the streets. We moved to LA where my parents were blue to find a decent job with a good pay and we managed to buy the house that we lived in until I was 18 and left to join the navy.

"You never gave up no matter how hard it was for you both, you always pushed and in the end, your hard work paid off and you are owners of one of LAs most popular restaurants" I said making her chuckle shaking her head

"We did it because we wanted what was best for our children, ones we didn't expect to have at a young age." She said and I smiled. My parents had Martin when mom was 20 while my dad was 21. They were young. Martin was 2 when Sven was born and barely 3 when Gabe came into the world, and by the time he was 6, I was born. People tend to think that my parents are my older siblings and not parents due to them being young.
