Eleanore's POV
It is cold... So cold... I can't feel the tips of my fingers as I keep sinking into the dark abyss. Someone... Someone. Anyone. Please... Save me. Please.
"No one is coming for you. You are all alone."
It's so cold. Too cold. Someone, please...
"You are all alone here."
No... Not this.
"You will always be in solitude."
I felt my nails elongate into obsidian claws. Not again... No.
"For you are a monster."
"No!" I shrieked as I awoke. I took short, panicked breaths and my eyes darted around. In a classroom. I am in class. It is June and it should be warm, but I could still feel the frost on the tips of my fingers.
"Ellie, is everything okay?" My head jerked to the right and I saw my brother sitting to the left of me. Fiery copper hair, tan skin, short-tempered. A complete opposite of my onyx hair, pale skin and eternal patience. The only feature that we share are our silver eyes. It is a surprise, considering we are twins.
I reached my hand out to touch his hair, and pulled. He is real. I am not alone.
"Ack- What are you doing, that hurts!" He proceeded to whine and unclench my hand from his hair. "Are you okay? You were mumbling in your sleep."
"Yeah, just a nightmare..." I mumble and turn away. The room is empty. Looks like I slept through the whole of last period again. Not that it matters, the teachers never teach anything I don't already know.
"A nightmare? What was it about? Is something bothering you?" August proceeded to bombard me with questions, and I just pinched his nose.
"You don't need to worry about it. Why didn't you wake me up? School's over, we are supposed to be home by now." I stood up and stuffed away the books I never even opened in class.
"Oh, but you are so cute when you sleep!" He squealed and I couldn't help but roll my eyes. He is usually moody around everyone, but when it's just the two of us, he turns into a real slop.
"The only time you don't have that cold stare in your eyes as if you're planning to murder everyone is when you're asleep and I can't help but treasure that! Look, I even took photos!" He showed me his phone and I just shook my head. He should be studying, not taking pictures of me while I sleep.
"Wow, that makes me feel so much better, Gust. you should stop taking pictures of me while I sleep, or everyone will think you're a creep. Come on, I want to get home and finish the book." I picked up my bag and slung it across my shoulders.
"Wait up, Ellie! Gee, you're always so cold. Are you Elza or something?" He whined and an after me.
"Monster."
"I'm not..." I muttered and quickened my pace.
August's POV
I hurried to keep up with Ellie. Honestly, what is bothering her? She's been cranky ever since waking up from Physics.
"Ellie, what's wrong?" I called after her. She was practically running. I chased after her through the park.
"It's nothing, just hurry up." She muttered and quickened her pace. Enough. I caught her by the sleeve and pinned her around. Her silver eyes were lined with a hint of tears.
"What's wrong?" I repeated more gently. She turned away and wiped her eyes with the corner of her dark sleeve.
"It's nothing... Please, let's just go-"
"No, it's not nothing and that is painfully obvious. Tell me." I grabbed her shoulders. "Is this about that nightmare you had?"
She shook her head, before giving me a hesitant nod. I sighed and pulled her in for a hug. "Ellie, whatever it is, it was just a nightmare. I'm here now and nothing can happen to you."
I felt her give out the tiniest of sobs. We stood there for a few moments, and it was quickly getting dark. I looked up at the sky and at the quickly setting sun.
"Come on, we must make it back before sun down." I whispered. That was the ground rule of our house. We must be back before dark, though I don't quite know why, but our mum made that very clear to us.
Ellie nodded and stepped away from me. I was about to start walking, when a loud crash sounded from behind me. I glanced back to see what it was.
A big, crimson-black husky jumped out from behind a trash can, splattered in blood.
"Smile, come back, you bad boy!" A raspy male voice sounded before someone came out from another alley. The guy wore a hood, and when he turned around to look at me, I wish she didn't.
His face was absolutely grotesque. Scarred white skin, choppy hair a-and... scars along his cheeks? Is that... a smile..?
The maniac smiled at me, his eyes chilling with insanity. "Well, hello there..."
A) RUN
B) Tell Ellie to run and hold the guy off
C) Don't act, perhaps he is harmless. Say hi back.
