C) Keep moving. It's too dangerous to settle, god knows what lives in this forest. You can stay warm by moving around, and perhaps you'll find a shack or some other shelter, or even a road.

August's POV

"Shit, it's cold!" I wailed into the darkness. The sun had long set. We found a narrow path, barely wide enough for one person. Walking through the night, I could see nothing but a dense forest of trees and bushes. Even the sky was blocked by a web of dark branches and trees.

"Shush, August. You're only announcing us as potential dinner for the nearby predators by whining like that." My sister scolded. She walked a few steps in front of me, illuminating the path with the eerie and unnatural light of her phone. We've been walking for the last half an hour in silence, only interrupted by the sounds of me swearing when tripping over roots.

"Have you tried calling anyone?" I sighed and looked at Ellie. Her face was a mask of stone and determination.

"No service." She deadpanned.

And so we kept walking.

Eleanore's POV

Shit. Shit. Shit.

We need to find shelter. And fast. The temperature is dropping. Fast. By phone battery is dying. Fast. Soon, we will be stuck in utter darkness.

I threw a glance back at my brother. He didn't seem to be too concerned. Or at least he wasn't showing it. He caught my glance and gave me a casual grin. Always that grin. How can he even smile in this situation?

I sighed and turned my head forward again. Shelter. Shelter. We need to find-

A howl -loud and clear- shattered the silence around us.

"W-What was that..?" August whispered, his eyes wide in shock and terror which he poorly hid.

"Must have been a dog." I murmured, but it sounded more like I was trying to reassure myself other than him. "There are no wolves in our area."

"R-Right... A dog. Let's keep going." August grunted, but my feet stayed glued to the ground. Something was off.

I broke out of my trance when August ever so gently touched my arm. I looked up at him to see him give me another reassuring smile. How can he smile-

"Come on. Let's keep going." Carefully, he slid my phone and our torch out of my hand and draped his hoodie over my shoulders. I stared at him stride into the darkness, before following him.

We kept on trudging down the path. I was calming down, when another howl sounded through the forest, this time closer.

August stopped abruptly and scanned the surrounding forest.

"It's coming from behind us. Don't fall behind." he ordered and took my hand. I nodded and followed him.

As we kept on walking through the dark, I let my eyes slide to my brother's face. My brother: the dorky nerd who always follows me everywhere, the younger brother who is always so overprotective, the little troublemaker that always makes me worry for him day and night. I stared up at the planes of his face, dimly lit by my phone. The utter determination that was set in his brow and eyes. And I saw a man.

"What are you staring for?" he asked casually, offering me a glance and a raised eyebrow.

I quickly looked away. "Nothing... It's just... odd to see you take charge."

He only chuckled. "Oh yeah? Well then-"

Another howl interrupted him. Dangerously close. As if it was-

"Behind!" August shouted and shoved me behind himself. I stumbled and nearly fell. August shined the blinding torch of my phone onto the creature. I gasped.

Before us, a large dog-like creature dropped to the floor and started whining in the light, probably displeased with us blinding it. It covered it's head with it's paws which were... red? The entire creatures fur was a shade of black dashed with crimson.

"Bah!" I saw August pick up a rock of the ground and pull his arm back to throw it an the creature.

A) Stop him! It's probably just a dog! You can't just hurt a creature like that!

B) Stop! Throwing the rock might only make it aggressive. It might attack them and grow angry.

C) Let him throw it. The creature will be take off guard and they'll have a chance to escape.
