Chapter 16

First day of rehearsal

I woke up to Ren sniffing my face to wake me up. I have finally adjusted to having Ren and the death of Jacob. I have had less time of being mute. Now it only happened when I was having a panic attack. Today was my first day of rehearsals at Better Nate than Ever. I don't know how I feel, I am scared and excited at the same time. I got out of bed and helped Ren down. He hopped behind me on my way to the kitchen. I got a cup of coffee and gave Ren some fresh water and food.

I went to the kitchen to put my coffee cup in the sink and I realized I had 20 minutes until rehearsal started. I changed into some leggings and an army green shirt with some newsie boots.

"Abby! Are you ready to go to rehearsal" Percy called. He had become my older brother and we have gotten really close. "Yeah lets go!" We got in Percy's car that dad had gotten us. It was a blue BMW with a brown interior. We drove down to a studio in Midtown. And Percy had to sign me in since I am under 18.

The whole cast sat next to each other in a big circle. I sat next to my counter part the boy who was playing Nate. "Hey I'm Abby. I playing Libby" I said nervously as I took a seat. "I'm Oakley and I'm playing Nate" he said. "Is this tour Broadway debut too?"
"Yeah"

We sat in our circle until every seat was filled and Tim started talking. "Okay so today we are going to have a meet and greet, look at what the set will be like, get costume ideas together, and hand out scripts! Let's get started! I'm Tim one of the child guardians/ stage manager/ director!" The person next to him was a man who was tall and thin with brown hair and blue eyes. "Umm hi I'm Andy. I play Nate's dad and ensemble" a women went next she was shorter had brown hair and freckles dotted her face. "Heyyy I'm Bella and I play Nate's mom and ensemble" next to her there was a women with blonde hair and blue eyes. "Hey I'm erin and I play Heidi" next was a younger looking, thin man with red hair and freckles all over his face "hey I'm Henry I play freckles" next was a boy who was like 16 years old. "Hey I'm Anthony but most call me Ant and I play Anthony and ensemble" we all laughed and a boy who had brown hair and fair skin went next he looked like he was 14 "hey I'm Cosmo but people call me leaf and I am in the ensemble"
We continued in a circle until it was the boy next to Oakley went. "Umm I'm Theo this is my Broadway debut and I am a swing". Oakley went and I started. "Hey I'm Abby and I play Libby!"  Finally the jitters came out and I went to go talk to the costume lady.

As I was being measured Percy came in behind me with a paper bag and Ren on a red leash. "Percy why are you here? Tim is here if anything happens"
"You forgot your lunch and Tim wants to meet Ren"
"Oh thanks"

After I was done being measured I got to sit and eat lunch with Theo and Tim. "Oh so this is Ren?" Tim asked "how old is he?" I thought for a minute Jacob had gotten him only a month ago. "Yeah he is only a month or two old". We finished eating  lunch and it was time to get scripts. Ren was keeping my anxiety at a minimum as he was sitting on my lap letting me pet him.

I got my script and Tim gave all the kids sparkly highlighters as a 'first rehearsal gift'. We did a complete read through and I highlighted all of my lines in blue and my stage directions in pink.

We had just finished rehearsal and I put Ren back on his leash. Tim, Theo, Ren and I walked back to the RR together. Theo live across the street from it and we planned to walk everyday to rehearsal together.

I walked in and said hey to everyone. Ren and I walked up the stairs and entered the apartment. I saw Percy and Annabeth on the couch. Annabeth's head was in Percy's lap and Percy was asleep his head collapsed on his chest with drool coming out of his mouth. I quietly made some mac and cheese and Ren and I went to bed.
