Alec's POV

I didn't know why Izzy always had to drag me with her to every single party she went to.

I just agreed to go because my brotherly protectiveness kicked in. I had to make sure no creepy guy tried anything with my little sister.

I knew Jace wouldn't complain because he wanted to see how many girls he could bang in one night.

Of course, I would have to tell these girls that he's not interested in anything more than sex.

What I wanted to know was why the host never showed himself at his own parties. I guess he's a coward-- I pause.

I see the High Warlock of Brooklyn walking down the stairs as nicely as he could.

I knew I shouldn't stare but he probably liked that people were in awe over him.

He was looking all around, slowly and curiously, as if searching for someone. Or something.

Then, before I could look away, his eyes lock onto mine. He moves his lips as if he's trying to tell me something.

I dragged my gaze away belatedly.

I could tell that I was blushing. He definitely noticed.

Magnus POV

The crowd stared at me with the usual awe, but I only saw the blue-eyed Shadowhunter.

He was staring at me like a five-year-old had just got her very own pony on Christmas.

"I didn't invite any Nephilim here," I whispered to myself.

But those eyes. They're just so blue.

The Shadowhunter looked away, blushing.

I continued to walk down the steps but I was now drawn toward those three odd Shadowhunter's standing at the open bar.

"Where did you three come from?"

The girl with eyes darker than night and a dangerous looking snake whip wrapped around her arm says, "we were invited by an old friend." After that I heard her mutter under her breath, "and I'm just really good at finding parties."

"Well, really I should just kick you out on the spot... But you can stay. But only because of the hot one."

The blue-eyed boy frowned and makes sure to stay in the back to not be seen.

"Thanks," Blondie and Snake-Whip girl say in unison.

"I was talking about Blue-Eyes," I give him a quick wink and slowly walk away, amused.

Alec's POV

I froze.

Could he be talking about me?

I am the only blue eyed one here.

I look up to see him wink at me.

Jace looks puzzled at the warlocks lack of interest in him.

Izzy, however, is smiling at me like I had just bought her the best gift in the world.

"Looks like someone likes you," she said proudly.

I didn't know why he liked me.

I'm not even dressed properly. I'm wearing the same shirt I had on yesterday, it's black with white lining--the lining was so dirty it looked grey--and also had a small but very noticeable pizza stain on the side. My pants were blackish blue and had a very big rip in the knees and on one side of the shin. The only thing that looked good on me was my shoes, they were white with black laces.
