Chapter 3

Flashback:7th grade
Parkers POV
Today there is a new kid in our seventh grade class. I already know it's a boy because our teacher told us. His name is Avery. I got so happy when I found out I would be the one to show him around. It's going to be amazing!

When I got to school, I went straight to the office and I saw a boy I didn't recognize."Are you Avery?" I asked as I looked into his sparkling brown eyes.

"Yes, I'm Avery. You must be Parker." He said with an adorably goofy smile.

I giggled. "I am Parker. I'm here to show you around today. I was told we are excused from class so we can walk around."

"Sounds nice." He said while getting up and looking down at me. "You're short." He stated while letting out a small laugh.

"I'm not short, you're just tall." I said while thinking about how I'm no longer the tallest kid in the class. I quickly jogged out of the office while shouting, "let's go slowpoke!"

Avery and I talked the entire day, and I found out he wanted to play football in high school. I should introduce him to Lucas, another one of my friends. I can't wait to tell Hadley and Kate about today.

When school was over, I asked, "Hey Avery, would you like to walk home with me?"

"Sure, why not. I mean, your the only person I know here." As he spoke I giggled.

We started walking but we didn't really talk because we talked all day. Now we know each other like the back of our hands. Soon enough, we reached our block. I thought it was funny that him and I live on the same block, and honestly, I never want it to change. As I said bye, and he replied, I realized something. I think I might like Avery Nicholas Alexander.

Averys POV
Today was the best day of my life! I never thought I'd enjoy my first day of school so much. Parker is my only friend but it was still really awesome. When I got home, I quickly took a bath and went to bed. I have to be nice and refreshed for school tomorrow.

When I woke up. I saw a small figure standing at my window. I got closer and realized, it was Parker.

"Get dressed. I want to walk to school together." She said as I opened the window.

"Okay but I'll need you to not stare in my window while I'm getting dressed." I said letting out a small laugh.

"Awwww, can I stare just a little bit?" She started giggling.

"Go to my front door and I'll let you in," I said, this time with a louder laugh. I quickly got dressed and ran to the front door as Parker knocked.

"Dang it, you didn't let me look." She said, faking a frown. We've only known each other for a day but it's like we've known each other our whole lives. "I wanted to look!" She said, this time laughing.

"Let's go or else we'll be late." I said as I watched her look around my room.

"Fine." I heard along with some footsteps.

Parkers POV
When Avery and I were walking, it was silent yet again. Then I heard, "Did you sleep well?"

"I slept okay but I was distracted." I can tell he was wondering what I was distracted about.

"What was the cause of you being distracted?" See? Told you.

"That's private information young man." I said with a small giggle. I couldn't tell him that he was the reason why I was distracted.

As we approached the school, I saw Hadley, Kate and Lucas. Hadley drooling over Lucas, of course. I quickly said, "come over here!" to Avery as I ran towards my friends. As I reached them I turned towards Lucas. "Luke this is Avery. Avery this is Lucas. Only I get the Luke privilege." I said with a serious voice.

Everyone started laughing around me. I was confused why they were. "I'm serious." I look at Avery. "If I EVER catch you calling him Luke, I will kill you!" Everyone stopped laughing and Avery looked terrified.

"Note to self, don't call Lucas, Luke." Avery said with fear in his voice. I giggled and looked at Hadley and Kate.

"Hadley?" I said trying to get her attention as she stared at Luke. "HADLEY!!!!!!!" I screamed as she jumped up.

"Wh-what? Huh? Where am I?" We all started laughing as she said that.

"I was introducing you to Avery." I said as I explained everything that just happened.

Hadley looked at Avery with a strange sparkle in her eye. I whispered, "I like him." All of a sudden that sparkle disappeared. I was extremely confused at this point because Hadleys eyes only sparkled when she liked someone. "Do you like him???" I whispered into her ear.

"What?! No..." she said in an odd tone. She walked away as she heard the bell ring.
