The Crush

Chapter 5

Kates POV
Today there is supposed to be a new kid in our senior class. I can't wait to meet him. I heard from Lucas that he is Australian.

When I arrived at school I was called to the principals office. She told me that I would be the one to show Calum to all of our classes. I was also told that I have to show him to the gymnasium after school so he could try out for football. When I walked out of the office, I saw this gorgeous boy with bright blue eyes and dark brown hair.

"Ummmm, I'm new here. Do you by any chance know a Kate Nichols?" he asked with an undeniably attractive accent.

"That would be me. You must be Calum Taylor." I said as I looked into his sparkling eyes.

"The one and only." he said with a small chuckle, which made me laugh.

"We don't have any classes until 8:45, so do you want to get Starbucks?" I asked, not realizing I was asking the new kid on a date.

"I don't see why not. Lets go." he said, already out the door. I quickly rushed after him and followed him to what seemed to be his car.

Calums POV
When we arrived at Starbucks, I watched as Kates blue eyes lit up when she saw a new drink on the menu. "I'll have a venti white mocha frappuccino with 2 pumps of cinnamon dolce syrup, 1 pump of hazelnut syrup, blended with cinnamon sugar, whipped cream and cinnamon sugar on top."

"Wow, you must love the secret menu." I chuckled. "I'll take a venti hot chai tea latte."

As we got our drinks, I realized that Kate got the Cinnamon Toast Crunch frappuccino off of the secret menu, and I was impressed by the fact that she memorized the order. When we finally settled at a table, I checked the time on my phone. It read 8:30. "Crap, we gotta go." I said as I stood up. "We're gonna be late."

Kate and I ran to my car and quickly, but safely, backed out of the parking lot. By the time we got back to the school, it was 8:40 so we had to run to class with our Starbucks in our hands. We got to class at 8:44 just before the late bell rang.

When the teacher walked into the room, I remembered that I had to introduce myself. I stood up and the teacher nodded, telling me that I could start. "Hello everyone, my name is Calum Taylor. I'm from Auckland, New Zealand and I just moved here to San Jose, California when mum got a new job."

"Welcome to the United States, Calum." I heard the teacher say as I sat down. I nodded to say thanks

After school I was introduced to Kates friends. I think I'll end up becoming better friends with Lucas since he is on the football team. After I was introduced, Kate brought me to try out for football.

Coach seemed thrilled to have me try out and I think he was happier than I was. He evaluated me by seeing how fast I could run and how far I can throw. At the end, he had already made up his mind and said that I was on the team. He said I had to report to practice tomorrow to meet the team. Afterwards I walked home with Kate, since we live right next to each other.

"Can I come over your house?" Kate asked me.

"Ummm. Sure." I said while looking at her Instagram. I saw some pics of her at the gym and liked them. "Do you want to come to the gym with me tomorrow?" I asked, realizing that I didn't get a membership yet.

"Sure, I love working out." Kate said with a smile. "After that, maybe we could go see a movie."

I looked up and smiled. "I'd love that." I then said goodbye with a hug before I walked into my house.

Ughhhh. I'm soooooo bad at writing these chapters. 679 words is absolutely pathetic. I have officially decided to post every Saturday. I just don't have the time to post two times a week. But, on the bright side, you have a chapter today. :) I have been so busy that I haven't been able to type as much. But now I can write these chapters on the go because I got a WAY better phone then I used to have. So, that's all I have to say. Have a nice day/night/afternoon everyone. Bye!😁👋🏻
