Secret betrayal

Regaining consciousness I found myself laying in the middle of a floor. I placed my hand on my head and moaned “Ugh…where are we?”

Alex smiled at me, sitting across from me and replied “The orphanage. Try to stay quiet so we don’t get caught. There not telling how many ghosts are in this place”

I looked at the clock which was set on 5 am on day 3.

We stayed in that room for what felt like hours. The boredom was brutal but at least we were safe. I wondered what was going through my friends minds. I also started thinking of the most random stuff like, why nothing rhymes with orange and out of all the slang that’s being created, what would be the meaning of the word?

Then I started to think about Chris. Did I love him? Did he love me? Was he thinking of me that very moment? Could my first boyfriend actually be death? Was he actually trying to kill me or was this some type of game to get me to remember my past life? I guess my life isn’t average after all…

I looked at Alex and asked her “How did you survive the lake?”

He replied while playing with a dagger “Well… after diving wrestling with an alien underwater Trevor shot the damn thing and everything was fore once we got to the surface. We just had to hurry and swim to the other side before more caught up to us”

Alex paused and gazed at her dagger in deep thought then said “After this is over, I’m never touching magic again. This is power nobody should be playing with”

Conny nodded while eating an orange replying “I agree”

I got frustrated and rolled my eyes and said to them “Fine, I’ll just be a lone witch”

Alex glared at me shouting “Trixy! Maybe an occasional Halloween experiment is fine but don’t you understand what’s going on?”

I smiled and winked at her and replied “Wish I cared”

I got up to refrain from arguing any further and as I walked away I told them “I’m going to take a shower. Hope the water still works…”

Trevor began to throw a fit grabbing his hair screaming “Oh dios mio! I’m seriously dying of boredom!”

Before I could leave the room a bed moved blocking my way. Conny screamed and pointed as Alex crawled over to a window.

“Shh! They’re outside” said Alex

Suddenly black smoke came out of the floor and out of the smoke appeared the grim reaper.

“You nearly escaped” said the grim reaper

Alex turned around with her back to the wall shouting at him frustrated “How did you find us so quickly?”

He looked at me and replied “I followed my heart”

Alex shook her head confused and replied “What?!” before he disappeared

“What was that all about?” said Alex looking at me confused

A zombie broke down the front door saying to us “You are no more…” As he enterd the orphanage I stood still as he approached me.

My curiosity started to get the best of me so I decided to test it.

Once it was close enough the zombie bit into my neck and all I could hear was Alex screaming back to me “Trixy!”

Alex ran up to the zombie with her blade and sliced its head off as I fell to the floor crawling away and holding my bleeding neck.

Yeah..bad idea…I hoped I wouldn’t turn into a zombie like in the movies but lucky that’s not how it works.

I got up off the floor running into what use to be the boys room across the hall seeing Conny cornered by an alien screaming. But out of nowhere Trevor came running pushing the beast into the wall calling out to her “Hey runt! Run!”
