Time to say goodbye

Conny and I continued running down the steep hill away from the zombies. Once close enough, we got into a tiny little boat and sailed off to the statue of liberty. As we sailed off I looked up into the sky gazing at the stars igniting the sky slowly getting brighter as the sun began to rise.

“It’s so beautiful…” I said

I looked into the water below us seeing the aliens swimming and rocking the boat which scared Conny making her let out a scream.

“Don’t worry! Don’t worry!” I shouted at her trying to keep her calm

An alien jumped like a fish out of water tipping the boat over causing Conny and I to fall in. As we sank into the dark ice cold water an alien approached above me and strike preparing to bite. I screamed as my scream bubbled to the surface but at that moment the beast swam away. Conny and I looked at each other then swam to the top gasping for air.

“What happened?” said Conny shivering in the water

“It looks like they’re returning to the Bermuda triangle. Haha! Get it? Because—“ I tried to pull a joke to make light of the situation

“Yeah. I get it. Because they’re like fish. Leave the jokes to me” Conny replied while climbing back into the boat.

Meanwhile, Alex and Trevor cuddled for warmth in the crown of the statue near the window. Alex slowly opened her eyes noticing Conny and I standing in front of them safety.

“Trix…Con…” said Alex

“The fish demons are gone. We should start heading back home soon” I said to her

Trevor pointed out the window to the flying demons and said “We can leave once the flying demons are out the way”

Conny and I crawled over joining Alex and Trevor in a cuddle circle falling fast asleep. Moments later I was waken up to the sound of sobs and once I opened my eyes I could see Alex crying.

“Lexi…” I said remorsefully

She whipped her eyes and said “How could we just abandon him in his time of need? Its all my fault that he didn’t even live to see eighteen”

Trevor and Conny opened their eyes as I replied to Alex “We can bring him back..”

“Could we really call that safe? You saw the way he looked at me!” Alex replied

“True…but” I added unable to convince her

“All this time, his spirit has been lingering in our house and not even once have I shown my remorse!” Alex shouted dramatically falling to her knees

Flashback

A few months previously, Alex, Conny and I were having a pillow fight in Lexi’s room with feathers flying all over the place.

Once we were all done and tired we fell to the floor laughing and taking a breath. Moments later after the laughter faded away Conny sat up hearing sobs coming from the door.

“Who’s that?” asked Conny

Alex got up and replied “Dad’s still upset about—stuff. Nothing important”

“Stuff like what?” I replied watching Alex walk over to her dresser

Alex pulled out the dresser organizing her close and replied “I’m gonna get my clothes out for tomorrow” avoiding the question

Conny looked at Alex with a plane look and questioned “Stuff like Ron?”

Alex looked back at her annoyed and snapped “I don’t want to hear about that bastard, ok guys?”
