I want to be clear about something: THIS IS A CONTINUATION OF THE FIRST CHAPTER! I don't want anyone to get confused and think this is a separate story arc, it's not. There will eventually be oneshots that will have nothing to do with the main story arc, and when that happens I will label them as such. This chapter still falls under the 'preference' category so to speak. Well, at least my definition of it. Now with that out of the way, enjoy!

Throughout the next various weeks, Jason watched tubes and machines became disconnected from his daughter, his little Y/N. It was hard for him to accept Piper's death, but watching as his daughter grew stronger and passed the tests doctors laid out for her helped to lift his troubled mind. Y/N reminded him that he still had someone to care for and that Piper would always be watching. The rest of the Seven would occasionally come around and talk to Jason whenever they got the chance, Nico and Leo were his most frequent visitors. They would talk for hours about past adventures and Y/N herself. Leo was especially interested in being given the role of Godfather, which had been already taken by Nico. And Nico himself had assured Jason that Piper had reached Elysium. All-in-all, things were well.

It wasn't until Y/N was around two months old that Jason was finally able to hold her. By that point, she was finally off her heart monitor and breathing machine, but she still had a few little IVs in her arms and a feeding tube in to assure she was getting enough nutrients. Those, to, would be removed in time, but for now, they were essential in keeping her alive. Jason was content with that. As long as he could hold his daughter without the risk of hurting her, he could tolerate the machines.

Jason had fallen in love with little Y/N once she when placed in his arms. Y/N's small arms moved around in protest to being jostled about the place, and her face scrunched up to show her discomfort. Immediately, Jason started rocking back in forth to comfort the infant in his arms. The nurse on standby watched in amusement as Jason tried in vain to calm the distressed newborn. Almost instantly, Y/N began to wail and scream. Panicked, Jason tried talking her. He started with how he met Piper, and he slowly moved on to adventures with the Seven. Little by little, it worked, and Y/N was lulled to sleep by Jason's voice. The nurse approached him shortly after and struck up a conversation.

"I'm impressed," he said. "Most new dads beg for someone to take the baby back once they start crying."

"Well, I'm not like most," Jason responded. "Besides, I'm going to have to learn how to do this on my own. So I might as well start now."

"Smart answer. I can put her back in her cot if you want."

"No," Jason shook his head and looked down at the sleeping baby in his arms. "She's fine where she is."

The nurse nodded. "Alright, well call me if you need anything." Jason nodded, and the nurse walked away.
