Kieran's POV

I couldn't believe what i had just read! I had so many questions. Who even wrote that letter? How did it get inside the safe house?
I shut the door behind me and sighed. I read the letter again to make sure that i hadn't read it wrong. But it said the same thing. It threatened to kill Shimmer!
I was so confused. I didn't know what to do!
It was then that I remembered that Katya and my mum were supposed to be coming back from their holiday. I would be able to talk to them.
Suddenly I heard my phone ring. I felt my phone vibarating in my pocket. I took it out and checked who was calling me. It read Damien.

"Hello?"
"Hey bro!" Damiens voice said through the phone .
"Whats up?" I asked.
"The sky" he joked.
"Not funny!" I said.
"Sorry."
"What's wrong? Are you and the guys ok?"
"Yeah we are fine. I just called to tell you that we should be back in one or two days. The mission is nearly over. We just need to sort out a few things then we will be right back."
"Great! Oh and Katya and mum are coming back today."
"Ok, if mum asks if i'm fine just tell her that I'm ok."
"Ok."
"Bye."

With that the phone call ended.
    Suddenly I heard laughter. I turned around to see Katya and my mum in the doorway.
"Mum? Katya?" I said surprised.
"Hey!" Katya waved.
"Ehi cara!" My mum waved.
"Ciao!" I said happily as I hugged my mum first and then my sister.
     We walked inside as I shut the door and locked it. It was then that I realised that...
"Shimmer?" Katya called.
"Shimmer I'm back!" Katya shouted upstairs.
Katya then stood in front of me.
"Where is Shimmer?" She asked me worried.
"I..." I started.
"Is she ok?"
"What happened?"
"Can I see her?" Katya asked me.
"Say something!" She yelled.
I didn't say anything. I couldn't bare the fact that Shimmer could possibly die! I couldn't bare that it was my fault that she was in hospital.
"Kieran! Where is she?" Katya shook me.
"In... hospital." I whispered. Katya froze. I could see tears in her eyes.
"How?" She asked me as a tear slid down her cheek.
"Jack's men... broke in here and battered her!" I was close to breaking down.
Katya burst out crying. She seemed to have made a connection with Shimmer and really cared about Shimmer to be crying!
"Katya... don't cry. Please..." I whispered.
"Does anyone want..." my mom started but when she saw Katya crying she stopped what she was saying.
"Katya! Honey, what's wrong?" My mom rushed towards Katya and embraced her in a comforting hug.
"Shimmer...."  Katya cried.
"What about Shimmer?" Loretta asked.
"She... she's..." Katya couldn't even finish her sentence because she had burst into a new wave of tears.

In the living room...

My mom made tea for all three of us and we were sitting on the sofa in the living room.
"Kieran, tell us what happened." My mum said worried.
"Shimmer... she's in... a coma." I started. Katya looked shocked and my mum looked... scared. "Jack's men came and broke into our safe house and they beat her up! I don't know why but I will find out why. And..." I trailed off unsure wether I should inform my mom and my sister of Shimmer's pregnancy. I thought about it and considered the consequences of telling them so.
"And?" Katya asked as she wiped tears that were escaping her eyes.
"Shimmer... is pregnant!" I said as I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.
"Your going to be a father!" Loretta smiled as tears ran down her face.
"But of Shimmer is in a coma then how will the baby survive???" Katya questioned me.
"The midwife said that the baby will survive as long as Shimmer is alive!" I explained.
    They both were filled with joy. I could tell. But, I knew better. I knew that they were both sad as well to hear that my Shimmer is in hospital.
"Kieran I'm so sorry!" Katya cried as she hugged me. I tried so hard not to cry. So I bit my lip hard so that the tears that were threatening to fall down my cheeks would stay where they were and out of sight.
I didn't reply. I didn't know what to say. My mom also said sorry. I knew that they both meant it from the bottom of their hearts. I just nodded in acknowledgement.
