Della's POV:
Day 4Justin, Izzy, and Nolan go downstairs after the prayer. Luckily I grab onto Wesley's arm before he can disappear after them.
"You alright, Della?" He asks, glancing down at my hand wrapped around his forearm. I quickly let go and start mumbling to him.
"Wesley, we can't just leave Veronica here, she deserves better than that, they all do..." He shakes his head, frowning.
"Della, there's nothing else we can do," I frown.
"Nothing at all?" I whine, he shakes his head and lifts up an old table cloth.
"We can cover her body but that's all... We don't have the time.." I frown but nod understandingly. He hugs me quickly, kissing the top of my head before whispering under his breath 'I love you' and rushing down the basement stairs.
I turn to look at the two Gray sisters. They nod towards the back rooms. Maggie, Vena, and I go change into some new clothes since ours is soaked all the way through. As I change I can't help but overhear the muffled shouts from everyone under the house; until finally I hear someone's voice ring out loudly: 'Are you two idiots?! Vena wouldn't kill her own sister on purpose! Thats like saying Wesley went upstairs and slit Della's neck!'
I shudder, the thought of my own brother coming upstairs and killing me in front of everyone racing through my mind. The vivid imagine looks so bad,it seems like a possibility of happening.
I quickly toss my bloody clothes in the corner, grabbing my bag from in front of me. There is no need for those clothes anymore though, this is my last outfit. I head back into the living room, meeting up with Maggie; and by the time Vena comes in Wesley and Nolan have made their way upstairs.
Izzy's POV:
I stare at Wesley as he pulls the sheet over Veronica's body, "Are you joking? About the Vena thing?"
He looks at me hesitantly, then back at Nolan.
"You're not, are you?" Justin asks from the back of the room- anger evident in his voice.
"We were just saying... It's a possibility..." Nolan mutters. I'm about to scold him for his words when Justin takes over- shouting loud enough for someone to hear from Jupiter.
"ARE YOU TWO IDIOTS?! VENA WOULDN'T KILL HER OWN SISTER ON PURPOSE! THAT'S LIKE SAYING WESLEY WENT UP STAIRS AND JUST SLIT DELLA'S NECK!"
We all stare at him, surprised by his sudden burst of anger- he's normally very good at concealing his emotions.
"Guys... We're just saying it's a possibility, we have no idea what was going through Vena's head then. I mean, why would she aim the gun at Veronica?" Wesley mumbles, standing up and reaching over to rub Justin's shoulder.
"She. Didn't. Mean. To. Kill. Her." Justin spits as he pulls away.
"Just... Be careful around her." Wesley mumbles, pushing past the fuming boy and rushing up the stairs with Nolan following close behind. Justin and I stand there for a minute longer, staring at one another.
"Where did that... What was that all about?" I ask him quickly, he shakes his head slowly.
"I don't think Vena killed Veronica but I uh... What if, what if Eugena- what if she killed Paul?" He asks, I frown.
"I don't think she did... Eugena's too good of a person." I try to assure him but he just shakes his head once more.
"Didn't she kill Michal? Why would it be any different for Paul and Shaylee?" He whispers, I stand silent- trying to wrap my mind around it.
"She... It's not possible, is it?" I ask him, he shrugs before turning and hobbling up the basement stairs- taking his time with each step.
As soon as he disappears up the stairs I turn and look back at Veronica's sheet-covered body, feeling a sudden pang of guilt. As if I were somehow responsible for her passing. I shake the feeling and rush as quickly as I can up the stairs, finding Della, Vena, and Maggie standing a few feet away from the door.
I step back, not wanting to intrude on whatever was happening.
"I-I," Vena starts to whisper, trying to force the sadness from her voice. Maggie tries desperately to shush her younger sister but Vena shrugs her off.
"No, I've gotta say this, or they'll think I'm a murderer-"
"You're not a murderer, Vena, calm down..." Maggie tries to hush the now crying girl.
"I am. I really am, but it wasn't on purpose. I swear..." She says- staring at us. "I heard you all... I'm not a killer. We were all downstairs, Della, Veronica, and I.. We all were. And Della she warned both of us to be careful, but I saw a gun and pretended like I was going to shoot, I was sure there wasn't any bullets. I was... I was positive..." She says in between sobs, clearing her face of tears.
"This wasn't on purpose, I promise you that... I'm sure almost all of us have pretended to use a fake gun now or then, I know it was wrong... I know, but there isn't any going back. Not anymore." We all stand there, completely silent until Wesley finally takes a step forward.
"Exactly... There's no going back... Mistakes happen, and if we stay here. Even more'll occur. So we've gotta go. Now."
Della's POV:
Everyone is silent and no words are spoken. We can't think of anyway to break the silence.
After about a hour of walking. We stop to relax a little bit. While Vena states that she is going to take a small walk alone around the trees.
We watch as she starts to walk away, but Izzy runs up to her and starts to walk along with her.
After about five minutes we hear someone shouting, a gun fires shortly after; I race into the trees toward the voice while Wesley calls my name to keep me from going, but I don't care. I can hear the footsteps of the everyone else following after me.
When we finally get to where the bullet and shouting occurred, Izzy is sitting on the ground beside a motionless Vena, slowly blood starts surrounding her. Izzy turns around, tears running down her face as she reveals a gun- the same one that was used to kill Veronica.
