growing up

The digging beyond the woodchips searching for grubs and worms daring each other to eat them. The nap times and ice cream parties with sticky fingers and dirty faces. The tumble bus Wednesdays and yoga Fridays, but now I'm in elementary school. The knee high tables and tiny chairs. The alphabet leveled books and prize boxes. The homework stickers and reading logs. The jumping off swings and cops & robbers games. The playdates and smiles over "yo mama" jokes, but I'm in middle school now. The strange fads and awkward stages. The peubirty and bus rides. The crushes and "relationships", but now I'm in high school. The pair press and work overload. The dear of the future and long for the past. The love and the heartbreak. The relationships and the breakups. The first kisses and first times. The parties and the morning afters. The want to fit in and the want to stand out. The late nights and early mornings. The independence and responsibility. The let downs and expectations
