Wings of Fire: A True Journey [FF]

Prologue

It was late. The rainstorm had lasted for days now and it was the worst one any Rainwing has seen. Glory, the Rainwings queen had told all dragons to stay hidden and not to come out untill the storm passed, she even told the Nightwings to stay safe. Hail obeyed her queen and fled for the hatchery to go check on the eggs and to stay out of the rain.

Hail crept inside and shook herself to get rid of the rain, she first went to go check on the eggs that were about to hatch and looked at all the small piles of eggs then went to check on the royal eggs that belonged to Queen Glory. All four of the eggs were intact and away from any windows that had rain coming in.

When the Queen assigned Hail to take care of the eggs she accepted it in less then a heart beat. In the rainforest it was an honour to look do anything for the queens, but very tiring if they were over protective because you never left you post to go have sun time and you had to wait for another dragon to take your place. Deathbringer mostly looked after the eggs for Glory.

But Hail was the second dragon in line to take car of the eggs if Deathbringer was busy with something else, which was almost all ways the Nightwings. Hail sat there staring at the eggs. They weren't due till about five days. Then out of the darkness Hail heard a crack and froze solid. She first looked around to see if she could see any other of the eggs cracking, but couldn't she crained her neck left and right and heard another crack.

This time coming from right infront of her. She slowly turned her neck and watched the royal eggs with fear. She reached out to touch the biggest egg that was female. It moved. Hail froze the moment it moved Then she thought of her Queen and turned around to the door and flew to Glory.

"WHAT!!!!" Screamed Glory, "they're not due still five days, are you sure you saw one of them move" Hail nodded with hesitation. "GUARDS, keep an eye on the Nightwings I'm going to the hatchery" yelled Glory " take me to the hatchery Hail" she growled while staring at Hail " y-y-y-ye-yes Queen Glory it's thi-this way" replied Hail while hesitating tring to exit the healers hut.

They flew threw the trees and tried to stay steady with the rain to pulling them from their course.
Hail flew down to the platform and tried to catch her breathe while Glory shoved her aside and raced to her nest. "Crack" went one of the eggs. Glory was sitting down holding her delicate eggshell while it wobbled and cracked.

A small tiny head popped out of the egg and squeaked quietly. Hail walked in the hatchery and sat next to Glory. Awwwwweeee she's so cute, thought Hail

"what are you going to name her" asked Hail politely.

"Well, what do you want to call her Hail " replied Glory who was now crying with joy.

"Ummmm... ...how about Rain since she hatched on this rainstorm" mumbled Hail

"It's perfect, my little Rain. Princess Rain" Glory cried with joy and hope. "We shall have a celebration to tell all Rainwings of the new princess. Go tell everyone you know Hail annd tell them to help spread the word. Also tell them to come to Arboretum as soon as the rainstorm has finished. "

"Yes my queen" Hail nodded and flung herself out the door to tell everyone about the big celebration and to meet them at the Arboretum when the rainstorm is over.

"Rainwings and Nightwings we are here to celebrate my new daughter that I have named Rain of the Rainwings." Glory said with pride. The crowd howled with joy and laughter. "Now that i have a daughter she will be helping me run this rainforest and help me with these Nightwings. So you must listen to what she asks for and to respect her with pride because if you don't them I will have a word with you. If Rain is being bosy and mean because she wants something then please report it to me immediately. However if she is doing her job as princess duties then you must obey her. If she just wants to have fruit becaues she is hungry then please get her some fruit since there are fruit baskets on nearly every platform. Does everyone understand." "YEEEEEEEESSSSSSS" screamed the crowd. Glory paused her speech and starred at the Nightwings for a minute. "All right we may feast and start the games."

"Glory " whispered a strange voice behind her. She turned around to see Sunny, Tsunami, Clay, Starflight and Fatespeaker. She couldn't see Deathbrin-
ger behind them, or anywhere in fact.

"Hi guys, what are you doing here." Glory paused " I thought you guys were at Jade Mountain."

"Nope, we came to see your son." Clay yelled happily "um Clay we're not here to see her son we are her to see her daughter. Glory doesn't have a son yet." Starflight said in his " I know it all voice" Glory likes to calls it. "Oh then we are here to see your daughter." Clay said being unsure about what he just said.

"So hows the little girl, I bet she looks just like her mother, I bet ya." Sunny said while interrupted Clay's thoughts. Glory waited for a moment. "Well she is only three days old since we couldn't celebrate on the day she hatched because of the storm so we made it happen after the storm. Her name is Rain from the rainstorm and she hatched five days early. Everyone starred at Glory.

Fatespeaker broke the silence "WAIT WHAT, she hatched... five... days... early? I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN I HAD A VISION THAT TOLD ME!!!"

"Enough with the visions Fatespeaker, we know they're fake now can you stop tring to be like your the cool one." Tsunami growled while starring her down. It went silent again.

"Well, do you guys want to see her she's in my hut, come come." Glory was ready ro show them. "Its this way." As that all six of them flew to Glory's hut. One by one they all landed on the platform and walked inside. The hut big enough that three adult dragons with their wings spread out would only just touch the edges.

"This hut is huge, I wish I had one like this." Clay said while being mesmeri-sed. "It's not as big at the Arboretum but I do share it with Grandeur my great grandmother or something. You see why I want to keep track of families now, so I can know Grandeur is my great grandmother or something." Glory paused. "Any way her she is." Rain was in a little nest made out of grass, straw and leaves, it looked extremely comfortable and you could fall asleep as soon as you touched it.

Rain was sound asleep in the nest. Her breathing was calming to hear, just soft and smooth. Glory starred at her daughter and felt tears coming. She brushed them away and spoke "so what do you guys think of her." Clay reached out to touch her then pulled back when she tried to grab his claw. "Awwweee she's so cute Glory and she looks just like her mother as well." Clay sat next to Rain and let her try and grab his claw.

Sunny was sitting next to Clay putting one talon next to Rain to warm her."She's so delicate and adorable. Is it ok if I hold her Glory." Glory paused for a moment and starred in confusion "umm i guess you can since she is waking up now thanks to Clay and his big chubby face." Clay starred at her " I'm not that chubby you know."

Sunny rolled her eyes and picked up Rain gently  and leaning her on her back. She than wrapped her wings around  the forearm that was holding Rain. "I think she's hungry Glory she tring to suck on my claw." Sunny asked while tickling the dragonet.

Glory stepped back "ok I'm just going to get some grapes anyone wanna come with me."

"I do." Clay responded blushing "I could do with a refill on fruit."

Starflight looked towards Clay "but Clay you just ate two hours ago, do you really want to fill up now."

Clay froze has he was following Glory out side "ummm" and with that Clay's stomach rumbled. Starflight flinched in discussed. "Ok go eat if you that hungry." Clay chuckled and Sunny couldn't help but chuckle too.

"You coming or what Clay." Glory yelled from outside. "Coming Glory." Clay said while he leaped outside the hut.
