Chapter 5: Trials Day 2

Ragan's POV
The first event I'm doing today is floor. I've been really unfocused because every time I think about floor I think of Bailie and her injury. She's on crutches and has a knee brace. Bailie is sitting with coach and the rest of the team. I saw Bailie get up and walk with her crutches over to me. "Good luck ray ray!" She said. "Thanks!" I told her. "Next on floor excerise from Texas Dreams, Ragan Smith!" The announcer yelled over the speaker. I take a deep breath, salute, and start my routine. My final tumbling pass was the same as Bailie's. I was really nervous I would hurt myself. I started running with confidence even though I was overcome with nerves. I wasn't going to let my nerves get the best of me. I flipped and I stuck the landing. I did my ending pose and then I saluted. I ran straight over to Bailie. I heard screams from the crowd and my team. "Bailie I did my routine for you!" I told her. "I know you did Ragan!" She said hugging me tight. She couldn't stand up but I was short anyway. I saw my score: "R. Smith 10.000" "OMG Ragan you got your first 10!" Bailie yelled. "I know!" I said while crying tears of joy. My next event is bars. I salute and take a deep breath. I jump and grip the bar. My routine was going perfect until my double layout dismount. I landed and sprained my ankle. It was my last event and it wasn't a major sprain. I got my ankle wrapped and got ready for the Olympic team to be announced. I felt so bad for Bailie. She doesn't even have a chance anymore. The announcer says who's on the team. "Your 2024 Olympic US Women's Artistic Gymnastics Team members are Ragan Smith, Emma Malabuyo, Katie Donnelley, Sydney Morris, and Konnor McClain." The announcer says. We all walk onto the podium. "Your 2024 Olympic alternates are Whitney Bjerken, Annie Leblanc, and Maile O'Keefe." I was actually surprised that Whitney and Maile were alternates. After all the excitement and pictures, we did interviews and met up with our families. I ran over to the stands to see my mom, dad, and my brothers, Hudson and Jackson, with Bailie riding on my back. She hasn't met my parents yet. My mom and dad hug me really tight. "Hey mom this is Bailie." I told her. "So this is the girl I've been hearing a lot about?" My mom asked. My face was red with embarrassment. Bailie just stood there trying not to laugh, but we could all tell she was laughing. "Hi I'm Bailie! I'm Ragan's girlfriend!" Bailie said. "Well nice to meet you! And I thought your floor was amazing!" My mom said. "Thanks!" Bailie said. "What happened to your knee? I saw you fall the other day but I didn't know what actually happened." My mom asked. "I tore my ACL. I have to get surgery next week. Can Ragan come with me?" Bailie asked my mom. "Of course she can!" My mom said. "Thanks mom! Hey I have to get going I need to rest up because I start training in two weeks." I said. "Ok well bye Ray and good luck next week Bailie!" She said. "Thanks!" We both said. Bailie and I go back to our hotel and get ready to go back home to Texas tomorrow.
