Is this the end of Logan Myers?
I frowned at the title of the comment, but still read on to see what the rest said. According to the author, I had "fallen off the face of the Earth" and it was "good riddance to me". The "years of Logan Myers are through". I wanted to laugh, but I couldn't. Is this what people thought? How was I supposed to come back from this when people thought I was gone? It would be like I crawled from the dead. I had to contact my fans in some way so that they knew I was still there for them.
I wanted to tell them this without them knowing I was undercover, though. That would ruin the whole thing. I peeked around the corner of my bed to see if Rich was still around. He was going shopping for some books or something. He didn't bring me along because he was afraid it would be like grocery shopping all over again.
I undisguised myself by taking out my contacts and hiding my hair. I couldn't do anything about my clothing, so I put on a sweatshirt, with the hood up to cover my hair, and sat back on my bed. I took a deep breath before going to the recording app on my phone. Was I really going to do this? I had to. I needed something to come back to.
I took a deep breath. Rich would kill me if he knew I was doing this. I wasn't supposed to contact my fans in any way, but I couldn't let them down this way. I nodded to myself as I pressed the red button and began the video.
"Hey guys," I said to the camera. "It's me, Logan. AKA the guy who fell off the face of the earth. Yep, I magically appeared back here. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know that I miss you, and I'll be back real soon to make more music for you guys. I'll let you know what I'm doing when I get back. See you guys soon!" I waved to my own camera and turned off the recording. Now I just had to find a way to post it without Rich ever seeing it.
I couldn't just put it on YouTube for him to see. I had to be more creative than that. As I thought of a plan, I didn't even hear the door opening.
"Logan!" I heard Rich shout. I turned off my phone and tossed it on my pillow. I tried to sit casually when he came into the room.
He looked at me curiously. "What are you doing?"
"Chilling," I told him, shrugging.
"With your hood on?"
"It's cold."
"Right, hence the 'chilling' part," he said, shaking his head at my odd behavior. "Anyway, Logan, I need to show you something."
He sat on the edge of my bed and pulled something out of a bag he was carrying. Out came a huge book. He threw it on the bed in front of me. The title was Bird Watching for Beginners. I had a feeling I was not going to like what was coming.
"Do you know what bird watching is?"
I blinked at him. "I don't know, Rich, I'm assuming it has something to do with watching birds," I replied with burning sarcasm.
"Well, I wasn't sure," he snapped back. "You're not the most cultured person."
"I'm not watching birds with you," I said, shaking my head. "No way. No how."
"You need something to do here," he pointed out. "And what's a better thing, for two young fellows, in a town full of wonderful bird breeds?"
"So many things," I said, looking at the ceiling, "would be better than that."
"We have to find something to do while were here for fun," he replied, narrowing his eyes at me.
"That reminds me," I said, glad to change the subject. "I need to talk to you. I am ready to leave. I weighed the pros and cons, and I decided that I need to get back home. My fans are waiting."
