"Whenever you're up to it, dear." Mitchell replied with a smirk.
"Would now work for you?" Kaylee asked, tilting her head slightly to the left.
"I've got nothing better to do. I don't see why not." The two of them stood in unspoken agreement and headed out the entrance to the cafe.
"How long have you lived here?" Kaylee asked curiously, as the two of them walked down the street side by side, arms almost brushing. Mitchell put on his sunglasses before responding.
"Oh, not long. Just a few years." He replied with a slight shrug. "How about you? Been here long?" Kaylee shook her head in response.
"No. Just got here a few weeks ago, actually." She said with a slight smile. "I like it here. It's nice."
Mitchell smiled slightly as well, glancing at her out of the corner of his eyes. "Glad someone else appreciates the place as much as I do." He chuckled, causing a light blush to dust Kaylee's cheeks as she managed a small laugh.
"Why wouldn't I?" She asked curiously. "It's always nice to see new places, and not once have I ever visited somewhere I didn't find beauty in."
"I wish more people were like you." Mitchell sighed. "I wish people could appreciate things the way they are, instead of always trying to change them. After all, nothing is forever."
Kaylee paused, gazing at him for a moment as they strolled down the sidewalk. "Yes, I suppose you're right..." she agreed softly, before turning her eyes back to where she was walking, though in her mind she was mulling over his words. The way he'd said them, he sounded as if he'd been around for far longer than his thirty-some years. Surely he wasn't any older than that? There was definitely something different about Mitchell, and she was determined to get to the bottom of it.
