Georgie and I have barely spoken in the last week. I mean, she still leaves me breakfast in the morning and brings me ice cream whenever she stops by The Sprinkle Shack, but for the most part she's been spending every possible second with Sasi. I can't help but think it brings Sasi some kind of sick satisfaction to rip away the closest person to a friend I have at the moment.

Today is one of those days I wish would stay the same forever. Temperature wise, I mean. It's absolutely perfect out today. Instead of the usual stiff, humid heat, a  cool, refreshing, breeze flows through the city. Palms trees sway in the wind, tourists lay out on the beach feeling the sun warm their backs. Young children run ahead of their parents with melty ice cream cones in hand, couples wander arm and arm searching for a place to indulge in their next kiss. Today is like a dream, only this time I don't have to wake up.

I pedal through the streets on the new turquoise colored bike my Aunt, Nadia, bought me. She paid for me to take driving classes and promised that once I'm finished she'd get me a car. But for now I'm pedaling, enjoying the feeling of a breeze pushing through my hair.

I pedal up to "Rents" a local movie trading company with more movies than I can wrap my head around. If I'm going to make it through the weekend without becoming a lonely mess, I'd better load up on rom-coms and junk food. I park my bike in front and head inside.

"Welcome to Rents." A low, monotone voice says upon my entry.

I take deep breath, inhaling the scents of plastic and dust, before turning to the person addressing me. "Thanks," I smile. "Wait- don't we know each other?"

I recognize her instantly, Georgie introduced to two of us at The Sprinkle Shack and we spent the majority of our time at that back to school bonfire together. I think her name is Emerald. No, Emerson.

She pulls her sunglasses up, eyeing me suspiciously. Then recognition forms on her face. "Oh yeah, you're Georgie's crazy cousin."

I nod, a smirk slipping onto my lips. "Is that what people say about me?"

"Well, after the whole beach freak out, people just thought you were weird. Then you totally owned Eli and his friends at The Sprinkle Shack, so now you must be absolutely nuts."

"Awesome." I chuckle, pointing oddly to an aisle before slowly walking down it.

I hear a shuffle behind me then I look back to see her walking from behind the counter into the aisle I'm in.

"How is Georgie anyways?" She asks eagerly. "I haven't heard from her in a while."

I shrug. "She's alright I guess. We don't spend a lot of time together anymore."
